SSC CGL Tax Assistant (Income Tax and Central Excise Tax Dept.) Exam 2024 - A Tax Assistant is a junior employee who works under the guidance of a department head to ensure that employees abide by fiscal laws, rules and guidelines when performing their tasks. Tax Assistant (Income Tax and Excise Tax Dept.) exam is held by SSC exam for recruitment of Tax Assistants in Income Tax and Central Excise Tax Departments.

Educational Qualification

For appearing in SSC Tax Assistant Exam, a candidate needs to be Graduate in any stream.


Age

The aspiring candidate should be between 21-27 years at the time of taking of the exam.

 

Tax Assistant Exam Pattern


Tax Assistant (Income Tax and Excise Tax Department) Exam Consists of two parts:


Part I

Written Examination: 300 marks

The Examination will consist of two Papers I and II.

Paper 1 will be Objective Type Multiple Choice as follows

Paper 2
will be of Conventional Type as follows:

Important:

  1. Tax Assistant Question Paper (Test Booklets ) for part B of Paper I (General Awareness) and Paper II (Arithmetic) will be set both in English and Hindi.
  2. Tax Assistant Exam Paper II (Conventional Paper) will be evaluated in respect of only those candidates who qualify in Paper I at the minimum standard which may be decided by the Commission at its discretion.


Part II

Skill Test

Data Entry Speed of 8000 Key Depressions per hour (appropriate to the text) on computer. This Data Entry Speed/Skill Test would be of qualifying nature. Candidates allowed to take this test will have to qualify the test at the prescribed speed on Computer, to be provided by the Commission or agency authorized by the Commission to conduct such skill test at the Centre/venue so notified.

Important

  1. The Skill Test will be conducted by an agency duly authorized by the Commission, under the supervision and control of Commission.
  2. Only those candidates who secure minimum qualifying marks in the written exam as may be fixed by the Commission at its discretion, will only be eligible to appear in the SKILL TEST. The SKILL TEST will be held at the Commission’s Regional Offices or other Centres as may be decided by the Commission.

 

Tax Assistant Exam Syllabus

Written exam consists of the following contents?

Paper I (Objective Type)

Part A: English Language:

Questions in this paper will be based on error recognition, fill in the blanks using verbs, preposition, articles, vocabulary, spellings, Grammar, sentence-structure, Synonyms, Antonyms, sentence completion, phrases and idiomatic use of words, etc.

There will be a question on passages and comprehension of passages also.The standard of the questions will be only of 10+2 level.

Part B: General Awareness:

Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Besides questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observations and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of any educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to History, Geography, Economic, General policy, Scientific Research etc.

These Questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.


Paper II (Conventional)


Arithmetic:

This part will include questions on problems relating to number systems, Computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentages, ratio and proportions, averages, interest, profit & loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, mensuration, time & distance, ratio and time etc.
