School of Allied Health Sciences, an unit of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation Deemed to be University started in the year 2004 which was a dream come true of our Founder Chancellor Dr.A.Shanmugasundaram, whose vision was to empower the youth from the rural background and year on year not only did we grow in student strength but also in terms of its quality and dynamicity. What started with just 2 courses and 20 students in just one campus has now widened across four campuses in Salem, Chennai, Pondy with around 1000 students every academic year and due to the continual improvement,it’s the 21st successful year with 13 Under Graduate and Post Graduate courses, and 3 Diploma courses.

Allied Health science courses are the most sought after because of the job opportunities it provides within India and abroad. Health professionals play a central and critical role in improving access and quality health care for the population. They provide essential services that promote health, prevent diseases and deliver health care services to individuals, families and communities. Scope of Allied Health professionals includes and is not limited to Individual Private practice, Jobs in Government /Private Hospitals in India and abroad, Work in Corporate Companies dealing with health care devices, Teaching profession ,higher Studies-PG/PhD, and Research Scientists .With such vast opportunities and versatility AHS is the right choice for a brighter future also considering the high demand for these professionals Globally.

We take pride in being the pioneers in Allied Health Sciences and due to our continual efforts we stand apart in providing Excellence in Allied Health Education.We are excited and happy that We have been placed among the Top 100 Institutions in India by GU Rankings ,London and also ranked under Diamond band with A+grade in OBE rankings 2023 by R world Institutional ranking in pursuit of our excellence towards offering effective Outcome based Education.Just yesterday we had received Certificate of Appreciation by Indian Education Network as Most Impactful Institute in Excellence in Industry Academia Interface at the Education Excellence Awards Conclave.We have been listed as the Pre Eminent Health Sciences Institute in India 2023 for our exceptional commitment to groundbreaking research,and transformative impact on healthcare education by The Knowledge Review group. Honourable Minister Mr.Senji.K.Masthan & Honourable MP Dr.Kanimozhi nvn somu honoured us at the India Business Conclave for” Best Infrastructure amongst Allied Health Sciences Institutes. Integrated Chambers of Commerce and Industry, India conferred us as the institution with “Excellence in Industry Academia Collaborations”.

School of Allied Health Sciences is the first educational institution in the country to receive ISO 21001:2018 Certification by QCI approved TUV-SUD for its commitment towards offering quality education in the most professional manner and one that ensures enormous growth potential to the students. It is also the very first institution in India to have received Workplace assessment for Safety and Hygiene certification (WASH)by Quality council of India(QCI).This certification proves our concern towards the safety of our students and employees and also its preparedness to combat situations like COVID-19. The ISO 14001:2015 Certification for Environmental Management system also stands proof of our concern and contributions towards environmental sustainability.
The major strengths of SAHS are Strong Institutional base & reputation both nationally & internationally, High class pre-clinical and clinical Laboratories, Research & Development on priority basis, Exposure to high profile professionals and peers , special expertise and high-end technology and High-quality results and this has led to the institution receiving 30 plus awards from various national and international conclaves. The curriculum, training and competencies achieved by graduates in their respective fields through our institution has helped students reach an esteemed rank in their chosen field. Collaborations between Universities and educational institutions is also contributing to the better performance of students from our college. Online free courses through Coursera, Edx and SWAYAM ,Value Added Courses ,Career guidance and placements, skill enhancement courses are also being offered to students to help them keep in pace with International standards.

We have memberships with reputed organizations that include Schools and Colleges of Optometry(ASCO)-Membership, member of Indian Society of Radiographers and Technologists(ISRT), India Vision Institute and also with government initiatives like DSIR, Institutional Innovation Council of Ministry of Human Resource and Development, SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter, National Digital Library, India. We believe not just in academic excellence but in overall development and as a testimonial to this fact SAHS is the first educational institution to receive the FIT INDIA certification also from the Ministry of Youth affairs and Sports.
Institutional Innovation Council, under the aegis of MHRD, Govt . of India was constituted and from its inception we have received the Highest four star ranking and Band Promising under ARIIA. We have also been recognized as Atal Tinkering Lab, the only one in Tamilnadu through the IIC. The first established and registered SAHS E Cell of Tamilnadu under EDII, Govt. of Tamilnadu,has been supporting student Innovators and Entrepreneurs right from Design thinking to commercializing.
Based on the best practices suggested by the University, Fostering Social Responsibility & Community Engagement, we are continually engaged in various social responsibility activities through our NSS and EVS Club and due to our commendable job, received the "District Sustainability Mentorship" by "Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education "(MGNCRE), Ministry of Education, Govt of India to promote sustainability in colleges and villages in Salem district.
4 of our Faculty has been certified as Beat COVID-19 champions and the Institute has received the Beat COVID-19 Institution, Swachhtha Action Plan Institution, Social Entrepreneurship, Swachhta and Rural Engagement Cell, National Rural Entrepreneurship mission certifications has been received from MGNCRE based on us taking part in monthly activities of MGNCRE like Take Up Tour of village, Score up toilets,Save energy campaign Showcasing the success of sustainability and International Signage Day.
