The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is a public-private initiative that has evolved collaboratively through consultations with multiple constituencies, including Indian and international academics, state and central governments, multi- and bilateral agencies, and civil society groups. PHFI is ranked 2nd among the schools of Public Health GLOBALLY.
PHFI was launched to redress the limited institutional capacity in India for strengthening training, research and policy development in the area of Public Health. Over the past decade, PHFI has established five Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) located at Gandhinagar (Gujarat), Hyderabad (Telangana), Delhi-NCR, Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Shillong (Meghalaya) with an ancillary centre at Bengaluru (Karnataka).
The Indian Institutes of Public Health deliver full-time two-year Master of Public Health (MPH); Master of Hospital Administration (MHA); Integrated MSc (Clinical Research) & PhD; Master of Public Health- Public Health Nutrition (MPH-PHN) Master of Science in Health Economics and Technology Assessment (MSc HETA); three-year Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSc PH); and one-year Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Management (PGDPHM). An internship/ dissertation of 2-6 months is an important component of each academic program. These programmes are aimed at fresh graduates as well as experienced professionals from medical & allied health sciences, life sciences, and social sciences. The programmes are also attended by mid-level government officials nominated by the various state governments
