Sona School of Management evolved from the fold of Sona College of Technology, Salem, founded by the textile tycoon and social activist Late Shri. M.S. Chokalingam in 1997. He always envisioned that excellent professional education would pave way for remarkable industrial and economic progress of the country. The faculty at Sona imbibe the four facets of “Fish Culture: Play, Make Others Day, Be Present, Choose your attitude,” thereby spreading the fragrance of freedom and enthusiasm everywhere, that is why “ Learning is a Celebration” at Sona. Hostel - Room and board is available for boys and girls at separate hostels. Each room has a table, chair, cot and fan. A sprawling new international hostel complex is emerging at a cost of rupees 20 million besides the existing one along with a world-class swimming pool. An able staff of Warden, Dy. Warden, Asst. Warden, Residential Tutors, and Mess Representatives are at hand round the clock.
Library - The School has a separate library for Management Studies. Its reading rooms have shelf after shelf of books stocked for your studies. The Library has above 10,000 volumes on Management program. Plus audio-cassettes and CD-ROMs on Management. National and International Journals, handbooks. A leased line Internet connection. The Central Library has a collection of over 58,524 documents covering all disciplines. It includes books, back volumes, standards, atlases, audio/video cassettes, CD-ROMs. The Central Library receives 245 journals: Indian and Foreign.

Training Program - The School organizes academic-industry interactions at regular intervals. Under this programme students get to interact with CEOs, HR heads, Senior Executives, Management Gurus.
Activity Based Learning Centre - To add a spectrum of creative content to the regular curriculum, the “ Activity Based Learning “ (ABL) sessions like Case study, Journal club, Seminar, Panel Discussions, Group Discussions and Role plays form part of the pedagogy followed in Sona school of management. Sector analysis helps to acquires knowledge of different sectors and the functions of the same. Harvard business review increases the awareness on real world application in the areas of management. Seminar enhances the knowledge in current topics and helps to develop presentation skills. Panel Discussion acts as a platform for exhibiting the expert knowledge in the specific topics given. Group Discussion helps to communicate ideas clearly and fosters team spirit. These sessions have brought about radical changes in the students’ perception, attitude and ability to comprehend complex concepts thus resulting in the development of all round personality.
Foreign Language Learning Centre - To hone communication skills, there is a Foreign Language Lab with audio, video and multimedia facilities. The Lab contains highly sophisticated software and projection systems to improve a student's communication skills
Sports & Fitness - These include swimming pool, table tennis, billiards, gym. The students engage in sports, music, or any extra-curricular activity to improve their latent skills. The college has invested in a state-of-the-art fitness centre, sports equipment and musical instruments. Facilities are available to play Football, Hockey, Tennis, Cricket, Basketball or Badminton. Indoors games like Table Tennis, Carom or Chess are available in the recreation hall. One can join a martial arts class Karate or Silambam or Yoga class. The college has separate fitness facilities for girl students which includes Power gym cycle, Twister, Power Stepper. Common Gym facilities include Multi Exercise Bench with leg curl and latpull, Push-up bar etc.
Music Club - The college has invested considerably on instruments. There is a separate music room and the students can train in vocal light music, vocal classical music instrumental music, keyboard, guitar, violin, flute, rhythm pad, drums, trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, shenoy. One can learn the choice of music from any of a batch of music teachers. Sound machines include Audio systems – Mixer, Amplifier, Speakers, Microphones, Two-in-one tape recorder, etc.
Placement - The Sona School of Management has been extending its fullest cooperation in helping the students to launch their successful career. Sona's past recruiters are ABN Amro Bank, Airport Authority of India, Amara Raja Group of Companies, APT Residency etc.
Global Management Review - This is Quarterly Refereed Journal of Sona School of Management. It has been published with the sole objective of catering to the intellectual needs of the academia and corporate fraternity. So far eight issues of the journal have been released. The journal has been considered as reader’s delight and there has been overwhelming appreciation from all quarters- premier institutions, giant corporate houses and Research pundits. The journal contains articles, which is a concoction of research articles pertaining to various functional areas of Management.
Sona e-Mag - Sona e-Mag is the online monthly magazine of Sona School of Management. Sona e-Mag provides a gist of quick reading articles on Management, published recently in leading magazines and journals. The cyber journey of Sona e-Mag was started on May 2008 and from then, it reaches various corners of the globe. The main objective of Sona e-Mag is to disseminate new knowledge in the field of Management to the corporate and academia in a short and simple manner.
Guest Speakers - Students get a chance to listen to the lectures delivered by eminent personalities from Business corporate and leading B-Schools from time to time.
