About IFIM Business School

IFIM (Institute of Finance and International Management), Business School, Bangalore was founded in 1995 with its first batch of students graduating in 1997. IFIM Business School has taken many bold, forward looking and progressive initiatives to include collaboration with leading academic, research and corporate bodies for conducting Continuing Education Programmes, Research, Corporate Training & Consultancy and offering a Ph.D programme in Management. The global professional development program and the learning of three foreign languages makes one really world ready. Under the overall guidance, supervision & mentorship of the Principal Mentor and Chairperson (Student Affairs), the extra/co- curricular activities are designed, structured, aligned to and integrated with the academic framework. Hobby societies, volunteer services, gymnasium, swimming pool, intra/extra mural sports are some of the ways to get away from the mundane academic routine.

Study Courses and Features:

International Study Programme - IFIM Business School has inked several Memorandum of Understanding – (MOU) with leading Global Networks. Under the terms of the proposed MOU, the Global Network will plan, schedule and organise an ISP to a specific country. Possible destinations include : Germany, China (Beijing, Shanghai), Vietnam, France, Singapore, Malaysia etc. The ISP would be of a short duration (say one to two weeks) and will comprise of visits to leading educational institutions, MNCs, participation in sponsored cultural and social events apart from local sight seeing trips. The programme shall be Faculty led and comprise of university lectures, company visits and presentations. In effect, the field visits to shall be invariably supplemented by academic inputs and corporate interactions. Typically, the programme contents could include an overview of the economy & FDI, visit to key industries and exposure to the financial system OR global players OR traditional industries. The ISP presents a whole spectrum of Academic -Research - Internship opportunities: from developing cross-cultural sensitivities & exposure to networking, from undertaking studies of best business practices to converting these into research cases and the like. The Institute, on its part, may assign appropriate academic credits for on-site studies and visits carried out in MNCs and in association with Faculty Mentors explore the possibility of converting these into case studies, term papers, research papers, projects & assignments. Student participants under this programme will be exposed to the local culture, interactions with the captains of industry and carry out specific live projects and assignments.

Industry Internship Programme - The five consecutive academic terms logically culminate into a 24 week Industry Internship Programme (IIP) – a structured opportunity to deepen a student’s understanding & appreciation of an area of specialization. The IIP programme aims to bridge the divide between ‘theory’ and ‘practice’. The II programme would thus offer the depth of research, intellectual rigour and will decisively face outwards from the Institute to the world of practising managers. Managers continue to be under unrelenting pressure to innovate and apply technology and efficient management methods to business practices. Thus, the II programme would enable students to transition from ‘knowledge acquisition’ to ‘knowledge application’ in its entirety.

Holistic Evaluation System - The overall performance of a student is indicated by two indices viz. Term Grade Point Average (TGPA) and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). The evaluation is done on a 10-point scale viz. ‘A+’ to ‘F’ where ‘A+’ denotes academic excellence, ‘D’ marginal performance and ‘F’, fail. The assessment tools are embedded in the academic structure itself and allows academic progress to be assessed on a continuous basis. The evaluation system is thus integrated and holistic.

Typically, a course could include one or more of the following components:

  • Class Participation.
  • Tests & Quizzes.
  • Projects (Group & Individual).
  • Research.
  • Assignments.
  • Term Papers.
  • Case Studies.
  • Seminars.
  • Mid-Term Examination.
  • End-Term Examination.
