ICFAI (Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India), IBS (Indian Business School), Indore was established in 2004. The Legislative Assembly of Madhya Pradesh passed an Act for the establishment of private universities. A proposal has already been submitted by ICFAI under the provisions of the Act. Land acquisition has been completed for campus development. Construction work will be taken up during 2009-10, subject to obtaining all required approvals. It provides quality business education and engages in research, training, and consultancy in the field of management and allied subjects. IBS offers two-year, full-time Postgraduate Program in Management (PGPM) to prepare the students and equip them for successful corporate careers. As IBS campuses do not award degree or diploma, they have not sought AICTE approval. Students are encouraged to enrol for a fleximode / distance learning MBA from any University separately. IBS offers high-quality programs in different areas of management to a cross-section of students, executives and professionals across India. IBS has a reputation for innovative program design and delivery, quality courseware, personalized instruction, strong industry interface, research, consultancy and publications. IBS conducts an an aptitude test - IBSAT, which is conducted by the Federation of Universities (FedUni), for students seeking admission into the management programs. IBSAT consists of multiple choice questions. IBSAT is for 2 hours duration and is aimed to test the applicant’s ability in quantitative techniques, data interpretation, data adequacy, vocabulary, analytical reasoning and reading comprehension. Library Facilities - The school has a well stocked library containing wide range of books, CDs, Videos, Indian and international journals/magazines and research reports. It has a comprehensive collection of literature predominantly related to management and its allied subjects. It subscribes to corporate information database services to make available a large research resource and publications with search facilities to students and faculty. It subscribes to the leading academic databases like EBSCO, Emerald Management Xtra and Science Direct which are the storehouse of around 8000 leading journals in all areas of management and database from CMIE (Prowess, Cenca, Business Beacon, Industry Analysis Survey), Reuters Business Insights, Market line, Ibid, Magindia, World Development Indicators, EIU Viewwire etc.
Computing Facilities - These include a computer centre with state-of-the-art facilities, round-the-clock Internet access, a Wi-Fi network, and 75 independent workstations supported by servers. IBS Campus provides the necessary latest hardware and software infrastructure to cater to the computing needs of all students and the training needs of information technology related courses. It is equipped with powerful servers and multiple terminals with multiple operating systems enabling a client-server environment. An internet connection through dedicated leased line at each campus assists the students in their continuous search for knowledge through the world wide web.
Case Development Lab - Case Development Centre encourages students to participate in case development through stipendiary assignment program. Under the guidance of experienced faculty members, the students are initiated into the process of case development from identifying triggers to final editing of the cases. Students who participate in case development go through an enduring and enriching experience.
SAP - The Stipendiary Assignment Program is designed for the students of the PG Program of the IBS, allowing them to obtain practical work exposure while studying at IBS. This Program offers the students an opportunity to work on a part-time basis, as marketing executives to promote various programs and publications of the ICFAI University. CMC - Career Management Centre operates under the overall guidance of a coordinator who heads a team of managers and executives, to work towards better placements every year, at the campuses. CMC enhances the placement prospects of IBS students. CMC personnel visit potential employers in various companies and apprise them of the ample talent available at our business school. Over the years, they have developed strong relationships with more than 4,000 companies all over India. There has also been a steady increase in the number of companies recruiting from IBS every year. Case Study Focus - The case study method is a key component of the academic program at IBS, which is one of the few institutions in India that has made case studies a critical component of its curriculum. Almost all the courses in the IBS program are designed keeping in mind the advantages of the case method. A few courses are even taught entirely through case studies - the case studies being tailor-made to the requirements of different subject areas and topics. IBSAF - IBS Alumni Federation All students who successfully complete the PG Programs of IBS are eligible for membership in IBSAF. Currently, IBSAF has around 16,500 members. With many IBS alumni pursuing careers in the corporate world in various locations in Asia-Pacific, Australia, USA, Europe and Middle East, IBSAF now has a global presence.
SIP - The Summer Internship Program enables students to undertake a 14-week internship at any organization during the intervening period between close of Semester II and commencement of Semester III. The program is almost equivalent to one semester and carries a weightage of 18 units, which is normally equivalent to six academic courses. The internship which would be a simulation of real work environment requires the students to undergo the rigour of professional environment both in form and substance. It exposes them to technical skills and helps them to acquire social skills by drawing them into contact with real professionals.
