Shaheed Udham Singh College of Engineering and Technology (SUSCET) was started in 1997. The College forms a part of the S.U.S. Group of Institutes managed by Desh Bhagat Memorial Educational Trust. It is the first Self-Financing Engineering College in the state of Punjab. The College offers B.Tech. Program in CSE, ECE, EE, IT, Mechanical and Biotechnology and Post-Graduate courses of MBA, M.Tech. (CSE), M.Tech. (Biotech), M.Tech. (Production) & M.Tech. (CAD/CAM). The Mechanical Engineering Department of the College has been chosen as the ‘Centre of Excellence in Manufacturing Sciences; by PTU. The College is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, the Government of Punjab and is affiliated to Punjab Technical University (PTU) Jalandhar. The College has MOU’s with a good number of International Institutes, and has Chapters of many professional bodies. It is also the first to establish a Nodal Centre in the college for Cambridge University (UK) Business English Certificates (BEC) Vantage examination.

Facilities

Hostel Facility - The College offers modern, congenial, single room, double seater's and triple seater's as accommodation in Tangori, with favourable rents which can be up to half the amount that students would have to pay as PGs or rentals in Chandigarh or Mohali. The Institute has three separate Hostels for Boys and Girls within the College campus. Accommodation is available on ‘come first’ basis, to those students desirous of availing the Hostel facility. There’s a 24-hour ATM for the aid of the Hostlers. Meritorious students will be given priority for an allocation if rooms are available in subsequent years. All rooms are self-contained and furnished (bedding not inclusive). Hostels are network and Wi-Fi enabled to keep Hostlers in-sync with the world online. Other facilities include Main Launderette, Hot Geysers, Recreation Room, Garden, Sports Complex, etc. A Library in the Girls Hostel is an added attraction with books ranging from thrillers, love stories, enlightened content, inspirational, mysteries and even course books.

Library - The Central Library is located on the first floor of Mechanical Block which is easily accessible by all the departments, readers and even visitors. Total area of the Library is 750sqm. Library resources comprise of books related to General, engineering, management, religious, mathematics, physics, communication skills etc. Library has a very rich collection of both book and non book materials. It subscribes to 16 Foreign Journals and 62 Indian Journals. The Library has adopted open access system which enables the readers to go to the book shelves & select the books & other resources themselves. All the books are classified according to Dewey Decimal Classification & arranged in the classified order on shelves & are catalogued according to AACR II, the dictionary catalogue of which has been arranged in the Library. SUSCET Library offers J-Gate electronic Journals. It also has rich collection of DVDs comprising course material developed by faculty of IIT Kharagpur. SUSCET Library is fully automated with LIBSOFT version 7.0 software which is VB.Net based. The bibliographical information of Library are made available through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). The basic searches like author, title, author & title, keyword, publisher, subject heading, call no. etc are introduced. This can be accessed on LAN from anywhere in the campus. Latest news about College is preserved in the Library in the form of clippings.

Computer Centre - The fully air conditioned Computer Centre facilitates the students of the College to avail unlimited access to the Internet to keep them  abreast with the latest developments in the world. To this end the college has commissioned a Fibre connection i.e. a leased line of 6Mbps from the Reliance. This facility enables the students to update their knowledge of events, technology and other happenings of the world, thus proving very fruitful to their overall development. 6Mbps Leased line circuit enables the campus with dedicated 1:1 bandwidth to all the students. The College has it's own mail server, web server, storage server hosted in the computer running on latest IBM servers. It has 800+ latest Computers on Local Area Network. All the systems in all the Laboratories are inter-connected through high speed LAN with manageable & non-manageable switches.

Wi-fi Campus - Fully Wi-fi Enabled College campus and Hostels provides 24x7 Internet Connectivity to the students on the move.

Laboratories - The Institute provides Laboratory Facility to all the students. While performing Experiments in the Laboratory, students can reinforce their understanding of the concepts and principles involved. Various Departments are equipped with their own Individual Laboratories.

Healthcare facilities - Adequate Healthcare facilities are provided in house for Hostellers, day boarders, faculty and staff. A qualified doctor and paramedic staff are available on campus to look after the minor ailments of faculty, staff and students. Medicines are given free of cost. The doctor holds routine check-up of students and faculty and counsels them on preventive and therapeutic measures regarding common diseases. An Ambulance is stationed at the campus 24×7 to meet with any exigency. The College has tied up with a multi speciality Hospital at Banur, which provides state of the art primary and tertiary health care facilities. Besides this, one Hospital in Mohali too has been tide up to deal with any medical emergency

Games and Sports Facilities - The College provides various Sports and Games facilities like Volleyball, Basketball, Football, Hockey, Lawn  Tennis, Table Tennis, Carom, Gymnasium etc.

Training and Placement - The Training and Placement Department works for the whole year interacting and liaising with the HR Departments of various Organizations so as to invite them to the College to help the students find their rightful place in the industry. Experts are invited to brainstorm with students and apprise them of the latest in the professional work arena. Industrial Visits are part of the program, enabling students to get a direct feel of what goes on in various Departments and Hierarchical levels of the Corporate world. As per the PTU curriculum, students undergo 2 months and 6 months Industrial Training. Training and Placement Department facilitates the training of the students by helping them to choose and apply to the leading organizations for the industrial training. The motive behind the Industrial Training is to provide the much needed Industrial Exposure to the students to make them well equipped to be compatible to the corporate world. On-Campus and Off-Campus Interviews conducted for pre-final and final year students by the Industries.
