Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies was founded in 1965. It is the third oldest management institute in India. JBIMS was established by the University of Mumbai in collaboration with the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University, with a donation from the Jamnalal Bajaj Seva Trust. JBIMS is considered to be unique in management education as it is firmly rooted in the local soil and capable of articulating the Indian ethos. In the contemporary era, where Globalization and Liberalization are the buzz words, the Institute has, without disturbing the said roots, ordered itself to meet the emerging challenges, sentiments and opportunities that are going to present themselves on account of the new economic order. The flagship MMS (Master of Management Studies) program was conceived under the aegis of Mumbai University. Besides that, it offers various management courses for executives.

The proximity of Bajaj with the commercial hub of India - Nariman Point serves as an added advantage. This translates into the symbiotic affiliation with the corporate magnets, equipping the students with business acumen to become tomorrow’s leaders. The Institute has full-time faculty in the core management disciplines and the functional areas of management. The Institute also has a panel of eminent management experts and senior practising managers from diverse fields of management. Library - With a collection of close to 40,000 books in addition to thousands of journals and theses, our library is reckoned as one of the best in town. It has been our endeavour to provide both students and corporates with the best possible research material including the latest writings of management gurus, popular management texts, classical books on management and much more.

The Computer Centre - Equipped with Pentium based workstations that are connected to various statistical and analytical packages, project management software, business environmental simulation software amongst others, the students have access to this excellent facility complemented by twenty-four hour Internet connectivity.

Wireless Fidelity - JBIMS students have 24 X 7 wireless connectivity providing access to enormous amount of information available on the World Wide Web.

Entrepreneurship Cell - E-Cell is in successful collaboration with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), a network of academic institutions across India focused on inculcating entrepreneurial spirit amongst students. E-Cell and NEN endeavours to actively contribute towards the development of entrepreneurs. Since its inception, E-cell has successfully conducted several guest lectures and workshops by renowned entrepreneurs who shared their experiences with the students teaching them various entrepreneurial lessons. E-Cell is also involved in providing holistic consulting and research services to SMEs and NGOs. Active participation in these activities have equipped JBIMS students with a mix of theoretical and practical insights into various aspects of entrepreneurship propelling them towards considering entrepreneurship as a viable career opportunity in future.

Auditorium - The fully air conditioned auditorium offers seating capacity of 150 delegates for business symposiums which are held at large.

Placements - Traditional sectors like BFSI, FMCGs, Consulting & IT, Telecom and major conglomerates continued to show faith in the institute and the quality of its students. Financial majors like Deutsche Bank, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, Reserve Bank of India, ICICI Bank and Axis Bank strengthened their association with JBIMS by recruiting from the institute.

Placement Process includes:

On Campus Recruiting - Prior to arrival on campus, the companies are requested to inform the Placement Committee about the modalities of the recruitment procedure to be followed by them.

Lateral Placements - The campus also has lateral placements. The candidates applying for the lateral placements have relevant work experience of more than 2 years.

Strategym - Ideas, Innovations and Solutions impacts the corporate decision making as is seen in the industry today. That’s what Strategym – the Annual Business Convention of JBIMS - is all about. It is about providing a whole new approach to the age old problem faced by the industry and bring about a paradigm shift in the way various business situations are perceived in a fast changing business arena. To stimulate the acumen of students at JBIMS, giving participants a chance to apply knowledge and insights they have acquired from their business courses to a relevant industry problem or to a concrete context is the purpose of Strategym. The papers presented at the convention focus on the current industry problems and spawn innovative solutions, and they go through a stringent screening before being presented at Strategym where they are adjudged by invited industry experts and prominent faculty members. Over the years Strategym has been proud to be associated with luminaries like Mr. Harish Manwani (Non Executive Director, HLL), Mr. Ajay Piramal ( MD, Piramal Group), Mr Sanjay Nayar (CEO, Citibank N.A) etc.
