Amritlal Virpal Parekh Technical Institute (AVPTI), Rajkot was established in July 1948 with a generous donation of Rs.1,05,001 from Sheth Shri Amrutlal Virpal Parekh, a great local donor and philanthropist with an aim to start a Training Centre for Wireless Telegraphy in Rajkot. The aim was realised by the tireless efforts made by Shri R.K.Yagnik, Principal of Dharmendrasinnjhji Arts & Science College. His efforts made this Institute as the first in India to start the course of Wireless Telegraphy. Beside this, a Diploma course in Advanced Radio Communication was started simultaneously. The Institute was graced by the blessings of the great scientists like Sir C. V. Raman who visited the institute in 1951. After more than 60 years of establishment it has remained a pioneer institute in the field of Telecommunication, Electronics, Instrumentation & Control and Computer too.
Location and Transportation - It is situated in the centre of Rajkot City between Dr. Yagnik Road and Tagore Road behind Dharmendrasinnjhji Arts & Science College. It is just 2 km from bus station and 3 km from railway station and air port. Rajkot is well connected with all important cities of Gujarat and India by road, rail and air.

Alumni Association - The Association is involved in securing funds and endowments for the promotion of Science & Technologies and promoting the Academic Development of Students by way of incentives such as Scholarships, Medals, Prizes & by other Academic Measures.
