The Shree Chanakya Education Society (SCES) was established in February 1994, under the visionary leadership of Ms. Tarita Shankar, with the aim of providing top quality post-graduate education in the fields of Business Management, International Business and Information Technology. Tarita Shankar, Chairperson, Indira Group, integrated her pursuit of excellence and articulated educational institutions, known as Indira Group of Institutes (IGI), which imbibe human excellence and demonstrate strong social values, with a single minded pursuit of developing the youth to become business leaders.
Attendance - The Students of Indira are required to maintain a minimum of 90% attendance per semester. Any student failing to meet the above standard is liable to get his / her term cancelled; in addition he / she will not be allowed to participate in the Campus Recruitment Program. Feedback based on monthly monitoring of attendance helps students maintain the minimum required attendance. The course is strenuous in nature and demands attendance on Sundays too. As such any student willing to put in long hours on a regular basis will be best suited to adapt to the course and derive maximum benefit from it.
Dress Code - At Indira, we believe in inculcating a sense of discipline and belonging in the students by observing a strict dress code. Students are expected to wear formal dress (shirt and trousers for gents; sari / salwar kameez for ladies) throughout the week, except on Saturdays which will be observed as `casual-day'. On the occasion of guest lectures, seminars etc. students are expected to be dressed in the Indira uniform (blazers, tie, shirt, trouser for gents and sari for ladies). A student failing to adhere to the dress code will not be allowed to attend the lectures and will face disciplinary action.

Students Council - At Indira all student activities are conducted through total and active involvement on their part. During these activities, they learn to emulate the principles of teamwork and synergy to derive greater cumulative benefits. The Students Council led by a President and a Vice-President helps propel the Institute's success.

Mentoring Programme - A Mentoring Programme has been institutionalized to counsel students on the key attributes that they need to focus on, to become effective managers and leaders in the future. The programme also covers issues connected with the recruitment and selection process of managers and how the students can confidently face such processes. A group of students is thus assigned to a mentor for counselling and guidance. The group stays with the mentor who acts as their friend, philosopher and guide in all matters, for up to one and a half year. Group sessions as well as one on one sessions are included in the programme. The frequency of mentoring sessions is designed to be highly productive.
Career Development Program - It was started to give some exposure to students about new changes in trends and technologies in the current industry. It provide opportunity to get knowledge on current technologies where they can enhance there technical knowledge demanded by IT industry. For this seminars on topics like GIS, Mobile Computing,.NET, Embedded Systems, Data-warehouse, Web Technologies, Linux are arranged.
Social Responsibility Initiative - Business and society can co-exist peacefully only if we all believe in the doctrine of sustainable development. Students here are encouraged to actively organise and participate in tree plantation drives, anti plastic bag drive, vehicular pollution control and awareness programs, medical support for the needy, etc. These activities form an integral part of the social responsibility initiatives at Indira.
Co-Curricular Activities - At Indira, along with the comprehensive academic inputs, equal emphasis is attached to the all-round development of the student. This objective is achieved by encouraging the students to organise and participate in seminars, debates, workshops, quizzes as well as management games and competitions. Majority of the activities are carried out in close association with the faculty and the management, which helps the faculty to understand and analyse the students better while serving as a feedback system for the management.
BrainGain - It is an initiative for the development of a student's overall personality. A high level of interaction between the corporate gurus and students ensures that the students imbibe the practical knowledge from the gurus. Moreover, they are propelled to enhance their communication and presentation skills, general awareness etc. Through these activities, students gain confidence and increase this knowledge base.
It compromises of various activities like –
Fitness Programme & Yoga - The institute has introduced a fitness programme comprising of gym, yoga and aerobics. Students joining Indira have to compulsorily attend fitness classes thrice a week. This helps them to consciously realise the transformation that they undergo, in terms of their ability to work longer hours, while remaining mentally alert.
AIM - The students of Indira Institute of Management in co-ordination with students from ISMS have founded this association, with an objective of providing a platform for developing better ties with the industry. The activities taken up by them under the aegis of Association Of Innovative Marketing, include market surveys for corporates, organising marketing fairs, marketing game competitions and seminars on various areas of marketing such as advertising, packaging, promotion etc., to be in step with the latest trends.
OMT - Outdoor Management Training is a unique training program designed for the students of Indira, wherein the focus shifts from classroom to mother nature, who is a master teacher herself. Under OMT, students are required to spend time in the wilderness with rocks, hills, rivers, lakes and forests being their learning aids. The objective of OMT is to put students under physically challenging circumstances away from the luxuries of home. This action - oriented programme contributes directly to their personal growth and physical preparedness.Thus, a series of adventure sports and outdoor experiences like trekking, rappelling, rock – climbing, canoeing, star gazing, living off the land, etc., aim to build one's skills in leadership, teamwork, decision making, crisis management skills and thus lead to the holistic development of the student. OMT today, is widely recognised by the corporate sector as an effective training technique for developing the personality of their executives.
Indira Research and Development Centre - IRDC in the two years since inception has been entrusted with the varied projects by different clients. The nature of projects is such that the teams are gaining exposure in important aspects of organizational and societal development. IRDC works with the help of expert consultants to ensure quality.
