Sachdeva Engineering College for Girls (SECG) is a certified privately managed College. It is an Autonomous Institute promoted by Shri Guru Gobind Singh Foundation, Mohali. It is a self-financed Institute for imparting technical education conforming to international standards. The Institute offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree at the Under-Graduate level and Post Graduate Courses in Management. SECG is affiliated to the Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar and is recognized by the All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi and the Government of Punjab.

Location - situated on the Ludhiana- Chandigarh highway (NH-95).

Facilities

Library - The College has a computerized, spacious and air-cooled duplex Library. The Reading Halls are well furnished with a seating capacity for more than 100 Students. It is stocked with more than 6000 volumes consisting of text books & reference books on the various subjects of Engineering, general knowledge and current affairs. The College subscribes to 25 national and 35 international professional journals, magazines & newspapers. The catalogue of the books is available on the computerized software on-line for the users. The Library is linked through the digitalized/electronics linkage facility to the All India level E- Resources for Providing access to the latest updates in knowledge in the field of Science & Technology.

Hostel - The Girls Hostel is under construction inside the campus. For the time being, the boarding and lodging facility for the girls student has been provided at Mohali with latest furnishing, till the girls hostel comes up on the campus. Well furnished Boys Hostel has been built in the College campus.

Transport Facility - The College has its own fleet of luxury buses for the convenience of students. Students and faculty members from Panchkula, Chandigarh, Mohali, Kharar & surrounding areas avail themselves of this transport facility. Transport facility once opted will not be allowed to be left in between the semester. Its minimum for 1 Year. The College being located on a National Highway is also well connected by state bus service. Many students travel by these buses by availing student concession facility.

Laboratories - Various Departmental Laboratories enable practical application of theoretical study to better understand various topics.

Some of these are:

• Computer Laboratories - Laboratories belonging to CSE department have of a total of 318 computers and all Laboratories are fully air conditioned. All Laboratories have P-IV PCs with 30 Computers in each Laboratory and a separate Internet Laboratory and a Data Communication Laboratory.

• Electronics Laboratories - There are twelve well-equipped Laboratories. The Institute plans its Practical Training programmes for the students with the key industries. The College has good interaction with Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Public Sector Undertakings like Bharat Electronics, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

• Electrical Laboratories - These are equipped with latest and sophisticated gadgets like D.C. motors, transformers induction motor etc. Electrical Laboratories comprise of Basic Electrical Engineering Laboratory, Electric Machines Laboratory and Power Electronics Laboratory.  

• Applied Science Laboratories - The College has two well equipped Science Laboratories for Physics & Chemistry. These Laboratories are equipped with the latest state of the art instruments, the apparatus & chemicals. Each Laboratory has the capacity to cater to a group of 30 students from conducting practical in Physics & Chemistry.

Workshop Technology - To impart Practical Training in the subject of Manufacturing Practices and Workshop Technology, the College has eight well-equipped Workshops housed in a standard industrial building. These shops are Carpentry Shop, Electrical & Electronics Shop, Fitting Shop, Foundry Shop, Welding Shop, Smithy Shop, Steel Metal Shop Machine Shop. Individual attention is paid to all the students for development of proper skills and proficiency in various manufacturing processes. Proper handling of tools and correct technical practices are ensured for accident-free smooth functioning of the shops.

Personality Development Cell - To groom the personality of the students, the Cell conducts mock interviews, mock meetings & oral presentations. Professionals from reputed organizations are invited to deliver guest lectures to apprise the students with latest industry trends & non technical aspects of a professionals 's personality.

Canteen - The Canteen provide fresh and hygienic eatables at reasonable rates. It is a place where Students relax and chat around in spacious, clean and comfortable environment.

Placement - In order to prepare the B-Tech. girls students for placement, efforts are being made to prepare them for placement in the leading companies like infosys, Satyam, Techmahindra, Idea, Airtel, HCL, Vodafone, CMS computers and many others leading companies. The first batch will pass out successfully in the year 2012. Many training programs by NIIT, HCL on java, oracle, C++ will be continuously organized. Several Mock test shall also be conducted from time to time to prepare these for placement in MNC mentioned above. In course training programs by Trinity, NIIT, Heromind mine will last for one full week or for two weeks of Workshops to make the students solve aptitude test and prepare for GD. The College has introduced special formal dress for girls and laid emphasis on personality and programs such as development of communication skills, leadership qualities, confidence building and motivation. The above program takes place under the Placement Cell of the College
