Northern Institute of Management Studies - Dehradun is a teaching education institute, in other words it is a B.Ed. institute. Short for NIMS, it is a self-financed private institute. It offers admission to both male and female candidates. NIMS-D comes under non–minority institute. It is spread over 3 acres of land with a carpet area of 45,000 sq. Ft. The institute has all the essentials required from a teacher training institute i.e. well planned classrooms, laboratories, offices, workshops etc. which are equipped with the latest equipments and teaching aids. The institute does not have hostel facility as of 2012.

Library - The Institute Library has a collection of 3071 books, 1005 titles, 1005 reference books, 4 encyclopaedias and 9 journals with a seating capacity of 100 students at any given time.

Extracurricular Activities - Various extracurricular activities are conducted by various subject teachers on weekly basis to offer some fun time.

Laboratories – The institute has various Laboratories.

These are:

• Science Laboratory – It conducts various practicals. Its facilities include – Cover Slip, Dissection Box, Dissection Needle, Dissection Tray, Student Microscope, Wire gauge etc.

• Psychology Laboratory – It is equipped with – EIR, PVQ, PTC FRI, PUTCPS, RAT, SATCS, TCW etc.

• Educational Technology Laboratory - It offers various audio -visual teaching and learning mediums like Television, DVD Player with supporting accessories, 3 in 1 Stereo system, Overhead Projectors,   LCD Projector with supporting accessories, Still Digital Camera etc.

• Language Laboratory – It has equipments like - Head phone with mike, Stand Mike, Table Mike, Wireless Mike, Sound system and amplifier etc.
