Udaybhansinhji Regional Institute of Cooperative Management (URICM), Gandhinagar was established in 1956 under the aegis of National Council of Cooperative Training (NCCT) New Delhi and funded by the Ministry of Cooperation Govt. of India URICM is named after Udaybhansinhji, the Prince of Porbandar who was a leader of the cooperative movement. He was also the founder Chairman of Indian Farmers Fertilizers Cooperative Organization (IFFCO), which has emerged as the world's largest fertilizers company.
With the focus on the development of managerial skills in the undergraduate curriculum, the agriculture and other graduates find it difficult to function effectively as managers in Agribusiness field, which have emerged as their most important employers. In response to URICM launched the two year Post- Graduate Diploma in Management (Agribusiness Management.) The programme was commenced in the year 2008 The PGDM ABM is a full time residential program that evolved and expanded beyond agriculture to other allied such as commodities, Agri-input, Agri-finance, agriculture retailing and rural development Strong connection with leading agriculture industries leads to one of the best cooperative management institutes in India.
Admission procedure of PGDM ABM is by appearing one of the National level exams like CAT/MAT/CMAT/XAT/ATMA followed by group discussion & personal interview organised by the institute. The program comprises of two segmenta, viz. classroom lectures and practical exposure through summer internship, live projects, seminar observation study tour and project work This unremitting assessment enables the students to implement corrective measures at the right time and meet the standard performance prescribed by PGDM committee.
The program is designed with a classroom teaching component, interesting case method pedagogy Besides, the institute provides soft skills training.computer training for better skills required for practical application.
