FOMA was set up with the motive of providing complete range of maritime training and education for all grades of nautical qualification from Crew to a Master Mariner/Chief engineer. It was started by Young and reputed professionals from the Maritime industry for the purpose of imparting quality education to the students. Fleet Ocean Maritime Academy is established to supply huge demand of well trained professionals in the field of Merchant Navy. It is in compliance with the ISO 9001-2008 Standard requirements. It is an authorized Training institute which gives quality training for aspiring seafarers to face challenges at sea.

FACILITIES @ FOMA

FOMA recognizes that a major concern to all students and parents is the availability and quality of accommodation and other facilities. The college provides following facilities to the students.

CLASSROOMS – EDUCATION –

FOMA had well ventilated air conditioned classrooms, which are primarily used for academic purposes, and are controlled by the Academic Registrar during regular College hours. This covers the time period 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Saturday, during the academic terms.

All the classrooms have a capacity of 20 students each, with a proper writing table and chair for each student. For the teaching purpose, all the classrooms are provided with an adequate sized white board. Also the classrooms are technically updated with the Projector system for providing latest education.

FACULTY

The College has a versatile facility. Highly experienced senior Officers with rich knowledge of the Industry are there to train students, to transform them to truly professional and competent seafarers, who can withstand the professional rigour  of the Shipping Industry.  Regular faculty at FOMA is also supported by the visiting faculty which provides latest and additional inputs. Together they provide insights into modern practices and latest technological advancement. The interaction between the teachers and students at FOMA is structured and informal.

UNIFORMS

Uniform is compulsory for all the trainees, which is issued by the Academy after confirmation of Students Admissions in the College.

CHART ROOM / LABORATORY

FOMA has a well designed Chart Room and a Laboratory for providing practical Knowledge to the students, complying with big chart tables, all latest requirements, equipments, tools, workshop equipments, and facilities

FOMA, has also maintained all charts, sign boards, and other demonstrations as new measures for training.

LIBRARY / BOOKS

FOMA, has a good stock of books, journals and Magazines available for reference and borrowing. Also it has a good system of updating the library with new requirements from time to time.

Apart from stocking the books in the library, FOMA also has a system of providing a complete set of books complimentary to each individual student for their self studies and reference.

PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT

The college also provides a facility for special courses like Personality Development, Vocabulary, Motivation and others which are run by the experts.

MESS

Special care is taken to maintain the status and hygiene of the accommodation as well as the surrounding habitat. The college provides a balanced and nutritious 4 meals per day to the students. Seasonal vegetables are prepared to provide all season variety food to the students. Twice a week non vegetarian food is also given as an option to the students.

SPORTS

The college possesses a large ground for the student’s to play Badminton, Volleyball etc. It also has a common room to provide space for indoor recreational activities.

HOSTEL /DORMETORY

The college has an excellent hostel facility to accommodate student’s. It provides a very homely atmosphere to the students. The rooms are well furnished and spacious. Each hostel has its own indoor games facility. They are provided with well maintained dining rooms with independent kitchens and hygienic cooking facilities and safe drinking water. They have the required levels of security and are environmentally well placed. The hostel facility is very ideal for pursuing academic goals.

Each student is provided with an extra long bed, sheets, a pillow and a pillow cover.

Proper bathing and washing facilities are provided, with a 24hr water and electricity supply. During winters, warm water is provided to the students for bathing purpose.

Hostels also have well-equipped common rooms with color televisions and Dish T.V. facility.

For National and International Updates – Newspapers and News channels are also provided there.

BANKING / ATM

For the convenience of the students, ATM and Banking Facilities are available at a distance of 5 minute walk from the Campus.

SECURITY

Security on the campus is ensured by constant vigilance and surveillance with the aid of tools like close circuit TVs.
