VISMAYAM College of Art and Media is essentially the pioneer of Media Training Centres in Kerala. VISMAYAM is currently offering degree, diploma and certificate course through three departments: Department of Media, Department of Architecture and Department of Engineering. The mission of VISMAYAM is to pursue and maintain exceptional standards in imparting knowledge and career skills intended to touch and transform lives of the learning community. VISMAYAM was established in 2003 in Calicut and its relentless efforts to excel in training and teaching field was recognized and rewarded in 2009 by the University of Calicut - one of the most eminent UGC recognized universities in India. University of Calicut appointed VISMAYAM as its recognized Programme Centre for conducting Bachelor's Degree, Diploma and post Graduate Diploma courses certified by the University. VISMAYAM has completed 12 years of operations in Calicut, Kerala. VISMAYAM is dedicated to providing relevant, current, and effective training to ensure a realistic opportunity for employment. So far we have trained more than 3000+ skilled professionals

Vismayam College of art and media is an approved programme centre of School of distance Education of University of Calicut, authorized to conduct the following courses in regular mode, since the courses are practical oriented professional courses for which regular classes and internal assessment in programme centre is necessary

Placement

Overview

The Cell, thus brought into being, started its activities under the charge of Sureshkumar S, Centre Manager. Now the cell is co-ordinated by Mr. Subash Chandran, Lecturer, and BMMC.  The goal of Training & Placement Cell is to provide employment opportunities & world class training to students of Vismayam school of Animation and special effects in leading organizations. The Training and Placement Cell in the college arranges campus selection of students, personality development programmes, training for interviews and competitive examinations, industrial training for students, assistance for higher studies in India and abroad, and other career development schemes.

Objectives

The principal objective of the Cell is to enhance the professionalism and employability of the students of the college so as to facilitate the achievement of their career goals. This entails the following

• Augment institution-industry interaction
• Expose the students to Industrial environments
• Render the students to participate in value-added programmes
• Evaluate the aspirations of the students for their chosen field/career
• Assist the students in realizing their short-term career goals
• Update the information regarding developmental activities in the various industrial sectors.

Activities

The Training and Placement Cell of the college operates with the active involvement and support of all the staff members and students of the Institute. The Cell held periodical meetings to chalk out programmes, guide their implementation and assess their progress and effectiveness. The Placement Cell members visited different firms at various centres and held discussions with various firms in the multimedia, Architectural and Engineering fields. Many of them evinced interest in providing industrial training to and placement of the students of the college. These discussions were followed up and as a result, a number of firms visited the college and held recruitment of the students of the college and the students were called to other colleges where the firms were holding recruitment. Some more companies are expected to visit the college for recruitment once the university examinations are over. A group of highly efficient and dedicated pre-final year students under the leadership of a student placement co-ordinator, organized the campus recruitment programme of the companies at the college, which was very much appreciated by the companies and the participants.

There are three student clubs namely; Media club, IT Vismayam Animation Club and Architectural Club with three very different agendas have officially launched. The club organizes group discussions on a different topical subject every week. Its activities are found to benefit a good section of the students. In addition, the Announcement Posters from various firms and training agencies are displayed on the notice boards from time to time.

Training

Lack of soft skills among the job aspirants from Kerala, was pointed out by many, time and again. The Cell, therefore, organized training programmes for developing and improving such skills of the students. Professional training groups active in the country were contracted to carry out these programmes.

They covered areas such as Personality Development, Communication Skills, and CV Preparation, Sample covering letter for a job application, Group Discussion, Interview Management, Aptitude Tests (NATA), Creative Quest, Seminar Sessions, and English Language.
