Pollachi College of Arts and Science (PCAS) was established in the year 2014 by Hayagreeva Educational and Charitable Trust. The institute is approved by the Government of Tamilnadu and affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. It offers undergraduate courses in Science, Commerce and Computer Science. The vision of PCAS is to become a premier institute of academic excellence by imparting quality education to students for meeting the diverse needs of the society and encourage entrepreneurship.

College is situated in a scenic environment in Poosaripatti amid coconut fields and is about 12 km from Pollachi. It offers 8 undergraduate courses in Science, Commerce and Computer Science. Namely B.Sc (Maths), B. Sc (CS), B.Com, B.Com (CA), B.Com (IT), B.Com (E.Com), B.Com (PA) and BA (Defence Studies).  

The Hayagreeva Trust meets 100 percent of demonstrated financial needs of the students through a combination of grants and campus scholarships. Pollachi College of Arts and Science founders are determined to keep the cost of education within the reach of many in our land, who could not otherwise obtain it. The trust also helps to realize the historic goal and sustains a diverse academic community united by intelligence, curiosity, courage, ambition and character.

The college initiated as an institution of 3 courses with just 28 students has recorded exponential growth and is now a full-fledged educational institution functioning with 8 UG courses with the student strength of 801. It is remarkable that the college has completed successfully 5 years and steadily marching in the 6th academic year.

Hayagreeva Educational and Charitable Trust believes in imparting quality education to the under privileged sections of the society. The College Management spares effort to encourage needy students to pursue their higher education. The admission of students is monitored by a duly constituted “Admission Committee”. The admission is purely on Merit and in accordance with the guidelines of the University and no capitation fee is collected. We arrange Government and Private scholarship for our students. Through a historic decision fostered by the college community and board of trustees, the Hayagreeva Trust meets 100 percentage of demonstrated financial requirement of acknowledged students through an assortment of allowances and campus scholarships.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The college has well equipped and ventilated class rooms and full-fledged State-of-Art computer labs with Internet facility for faculty members and students. The computing facility is being continuously upgraded and modernized in the interest of students. Our Library, store house of knowledge, has required number of books, 12 International Journals and also a member of NDL.

Our well maintained ground is equipped for playing outdoor games and professional cricket.

Home, away from home, separate hostel facility, available for both boys and girls make their life comfortable.

To cater to the needs of students coming from different locations the college runs 18 buses.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

• Sports

Sports lead to a well balanced mental and physical growth of a human being. Our institution has well – equipped indoor and outdoor game facilities like Cricket, Kabaddi, Hand Ball, Ball Badminton, Shuttle cork, Chess, Carrom and Volley Ball along with Gym facility.

We used to organize sports meets like intramural, inter-school, inter-collegiate and also between different community clubs every year to encourage and motivate not only our students to participate and also everybody. Along with that we organize the Bharathiar University events regularly, in that few are as follows:

• Zonal cricket tournament
• Inter zonal cricket tournament
• Inter zonal cross country men and women
• Inter zonal, kho-kho women
  
  
• NSS

The college has a unit of National Service Scheme. The unit was started in 2017. This plays an active role in shaping our students as responsible citizens. The overall aim of NSS is to develop the personality of students through community service. Each and every year we have conducted special camps on the theme “Healthy youth for Healthy India” in rural areas.

List of few other events used to organize in addition to the special camp is as follows:

• Swatch Bharath Mobile App awareness programme

EXTRA- CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

• Clubs and Committees

Many socio-cultural activities are being conducted under various clubs and committees in the college with the intention of creating a community of students morally responsible and capable of confronting the challenges of the modern world. Each club and committee is under the supervision of the faculty members.

Career Guidance Cell, Women’s Empowerment Cell, Fine Arts Club, Bulletin board and Notice board club, English Club, Alumni Association, Parent-Teachers Association, Swayam, Placement and Training Cell, NDL, Student Intellectual Forum, Creative Corner, Grievance Redressal Cell, Students' Counseling Cell, Green Club,  Discipline Committee, Ragging Curb Committee, NSS Advisory Board, Entrepreneurship Cell, Health Club, Counseling Cell, Drug Buster Education Committee, Hayagreeva Research and Development Cell, Hayagreeva Studio, Parent- Teachers Association, Alumni Association etc.,

ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

In addition to the regular academic activities we used to organize various national / International Seminars, Guest Lectures, FDPS, Symposiums, Workshops and Technical meets frequently under the banner of different department association to enrich the skill sets and knowledge of the students and staff members to face the real world challenges.

• Paper Publication in Journals by Faculty

Other than their demanding activities our faculty members are encouraged to present research papers in various seminars, conferences, and symposium and also to publish their research papers in reputed international journals.

RESULTS

Our committed team of faculty teaches well to the broad spectrum of our students and could able to produce 95% excellent results in the Bharathiar University Examinations every year. We hope it will reach 100% in the future.

IQAC

Quality assurance is a by-product of ongoing efforts to define the objectives of an institution, to have a work plan to achieve them, and to specify the checks and balances to evaluate the degree to which each of the tasks is fulfilled. Hence, devotion and commitment to improvement rather than mere institutional control is the basis for devising procedures and instruments for assuring quality. The right balance between the health and growth of an institution needs to be struck. To enhance teaching-learning process, Internal Quality Assurance Cell was instituted to audit the process and progress in order to march towards the Accreditation process
