While the process of curriculum development is underway through consultative meetings with academia and practicing experts from various disciplines in different cities, the school has decided to introduce Masters level programmes to begin with. The programmes in design are being envisaged to explore two broad areas — interfaces of public and social systems and the domains of design history, theory and criticism.
As part of the long-term plan, the school is also planning to offer MPhil and PhD in the discipline as well as undergraduate programmes in future. The details of the programmes to be offered from July 2013 will be announced in due course. The new school of design will have eight fulltime faculty members to start with, of which three are already in place.
Also, the school is considering establishing a journal of design and a resource centre in the form of a museum of design in future. "The journal of design will record theoretical discussions of design and will provide insights to students on various aspects of the discipline.
