The six member panel set up by the health ministry to run the MCI- Medical Council of India has suggested institution of a common entrance test for admission to all the medical colleges of India. At present a student has to appear in 10-15 different exams to get admission in medical college. A common exam will prove halpful for both students and parents as they have to take only one test for all the medical institutions.Dr. Shetty however made it clear that the student has to apply individually to the medical college one seeks to get admission on the basis of the single common exam.
This process will probably get started in next session with 40 thousand seats for MBBS and 23 thousand seats in PG courses in offing to grab for the medical aspirants.
