More than 2.5 lakh to take CAT 2013

With 30 more days still available for CAT 2013 registration, the number of CAT vouchers sold so far has already crossed 50 per cent mark compared to the total no. of applications received last year. Seeing the trend CAT officials are expecting the final figure to hit a high record of 2.5 lakh applications this year.

The last date for the sale of CAT 2013 voucher is 24 September 2013 and the online registration window for CAT is open till 26 September 2013.

The number of CAT takers had been dropped considerably since the year 2008 but started showing a sign of revival from last year only when the number of CAT applicants grew to 2.14 lakh. In 2010 and 2011 the number of CAT registration was 2.04 lakh and 2.05 lakh, respectively.

But, it is also clear that this increasing number of CAT applications this year might result in a tougher competition for getting entry to IIMs and other top B-schools.

A special technical team at IIM Indore is handling the operation of online sale of CAT vouchers, which has been very smooth so far except the first-day heavy traffic on 5 August, as revealed by the CAT Convener. 

CAT, a gateway to the prestigious IIMs and other topmost B-schools in India, is scheduled to be held between a 20 days of online test window which will be getting open from 16 October 2013, and end on 11 November 2013. Prometric is the testing partner for this prestigious MBA entrance exam.
