Karnataka University to offer PhD in music and fine arts

Karnataka University has decided to offer candidates to pursue PhD in music and fine arts.

Accordingly the PhD programmes in drawing and painting will start from the academic year 2013-14. As there are no research guides available at KU, the university will arrange for the guides or co-guides from other universities or institutes.

University official meeting also approved the proposals regarding closing down of Arts course at IBMR Arts and Commerce College of Hubli and BSc Microbiology course at JSS Banashankari Arts and Commerce and Shantikumar Gubbi Science College of Dharwad. The heads of these institutes had sought the university's permission to close down the courses from academic year 2013-14, said the registrar (administration) Chandrama S. Kanagali.

VC H B Walikar chaired the meeting and heads from various departments also attended the meeting.
