According to new guidelines the class IX CBSE students will compulsorily have to score a minimum of 25 per cent marks in summative assessments to get promoted to the higher class.

Earlier to this new rule, the marksheet of those students who appeared in SA used to mention only the cumulative scores from 2 SAs and 4 formative assessments (FA) for each subject. However, from now onwards, the new change states that a student will have to score minimum of 15 marks out of 60, in each SA, in order to get pass and qualified to the next class.

For 2014 assessments, the new rule is to be applied only on Class IX students. Though, from 2015 onwards, the Class X students will also come under to follow this same criterion for getting qualified.
