Central University of Karnataka, Gulbarga and Central University of Kerala, Kasaragod have been received a grant of Rs. 3.6 crore each from University Grants Commission (UGC) to establish centres of endangered languages.

The two Central universities had been given the mandate to take up research on endangered languages while coordinating with each other.
