Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2018 analysis

UPSC conducted Civil Services Preliminary Exam 2018 on June 3, 2018. First session of the exam was held from 9:30 am to 11:30 am whereas second session was held from 2:30 pm to 4:40 pm. Students have to attempt 200 questions in both the sessions. Both papers were of 400 marks.

First paper was of general studies in which students have to answer questions on current affairs, Social studies, economics, political science, Science  and history. Whereas in second paper was aptitude test. According to the experts the paper was a mix bag of questions. One of the aspiring IAS in first paper out of a total of 100 questions 18 were from history, 11 from administration, 16 from economics, 10 from science and technology, 10 from statistics, 8 from environmental sciene, 11 from geography and 3 each were from agriculture and basic knowledge. Whereas in second paper there were total of 20 questions from mathematics, 14 from statistics and 16 questions on reasoning.

All in all Civil Services Preliminary exam was a balanced paper with good level of questions.
