Degree Online Services Telangana (DOST) has allotted nearly 1.84 seats in various degree courses across the states in three phases. Of the total, 57,294 students were allotted seat in the final phase. Off all the students 83,515 were boys and 1,00,743 were girls.
This year also science continued to be the hot stream with 86,550 seats allotted in science stream followed by 71,325 in commerce stream, 22,744 in arts and 3,538 in other courses such as business administration, business management, social works, computer applications etc. English, Telugu and Urdu were among the most sought-after medium of instructions.
Data showed that 1.29 lakh students were allotted seats in private unaided colleges followed by 40,796 in government colleges.
Osmania University continued to be the hot favourite with the highest seat allotment of 75,641 followed by Kakatiya University at 47,022.
Last year, the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) had declared another round of counselling for students who failed to secure a seat in engineering, agriculture and pharmacy. This year too, private degree college management associations have demanded that the state conducts another phase of counselling until the end of the engineering agricultural and medical common entrance test (Eamcet) counselling which will conclude on July 10. With over 2.24 seats going vacant, private colleges have also demanded that they be filled through spot admissions.
