CISCE - Council for the Indian School Certificate ExaminationAnand Niketan Eklavya Model Residential School came into being through an MOU between Anand Niketan Group of Schools and the Tribal Development Department under whom the Gujarat State Tribal Development Residential Education Institutions Society is actively working for the tribal students all over Gujarat providing them good quality education. The Society runs around 68 schools mostly residential. The EMRS model school has been very successful in Gujarat and is doing great work. The Society under the Secretaryship of Shri Anand Mohan Tiwariji, the then Principal Secretary, has been successful in roping in big names in education to align with the TDD to manage and run this model in remote areas and contribute in bringing up the overall standard of education provided to students of various tribes, primitive tribe groups and border villages essentially below poverty line.
Anand Niketan Eklavya Model Residential School is a living example of the success of this Public Private Partnership. Nestled in the scenic remote village of Kaprada surrounded by mountains, ANEMRSK which started officially functioning on 10th August, 2009, has come a long way in a short span of 3 years and has been able to make a name for itself in Valsad district. Be it academics, sports, cultural, social or any other extracurricular activity, the students of ANEMRSK have come out winners. They have proved that given the right kind of exposure and guidance they can shine as well as any urban city bred child.
The school at present has on its roll 300 students. The number of students per section is less than 35 in each class. It is a co-ed Gujarat Board, Gujarati medium school with a strong emphasis on Spoken English. Extra care is taken to give a highly nutritious balanced diet to the students in view of the background they come from. Most of them are malnourished, underweight, underheight and anemic when they first come to school but in just a couple of months’ time one can see a remarkable difference in their physical development. Their diet, personal grooming, hygiene, cleanliness, health, etiquette and personality development are personally looked into by Principal Ms. Lamiya Shums in addition of course to their academics, physical education and cultural activities.
A dedicated, self motivated team of 20 teaching and non-teaching staff work round the clock to facilitate the best possible quality for the students in terms of developing them in every which way since it is a residential school and there is a huge scope of working with the students at all hours. The student teacher ratio at ANEMRSK is 15:1
This is a novel project for Anand Niketan Group of Schools, a group mainly active in Ahmedabad and surrounding areas with 12 English medium self financed schools mostly affiliated to the ICSE and CBSE boards. The Kaprada branch is especially close to the heart of Chairman Shri Kamal Mangalji and he keeps aside atleast 5 days every month from his busy schedule to spend at Kaprada mingling freely with the students at all times, interacting with them, sharing, imparting his vastly gained knowledge. He holds regular meetings with the teaching staff and guides them minutely on how to carry forward his vision for these children.
The students of ANEMRSK have in a short span of 3 years brought in many laurels for the school and made its’ management proud and continue doing so.
