The school owes its inception to the profound vision of dynamic leaders of Chief Khalsa Diwan Charitable Society, Amritsar. The school is housed in sprawling area of seven acres with lush green lawns to enhance the freshness and splendor of the surroundings.

SGHIS is co-educational institution with a mission to provide an environment which helps the children to enhance their physical, mental, intellectual, aesthetic and spiritual potential. The school with sound infrastructural facilities and diligent and highly qualified staff has earned the affiliation with the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi.

Infrastructure:-

The school has a well stocked library, a spacious music room, an activity room, art and craft room and a dining room for tiny tots. Well equipped science labs, Mathematics lab and Computer labs cater to the needs of the students. The spacious and airy class rooms provide conducive and healthy surroundings. Use of audiovisual aids i.e. Teach Next and Educom help to facilitate mental and motor development of child.

We Aim At:-

SGHIS, Amritsar aims at training the students as the soldiers of Righteousness. The Gurdwara in the premises is the pride of the school. It is the perfect source to help the students to know the value of humility, tolerance and brotherhood. Moral education is imparted through religious discourses on the life and the teachings of the gurus and great personalities. Students are made aware of their rich and glorious heritage. Religious and Cultural festivals are celebrated to the help the students to know about the glory and legacy of our country. Special assemblies are held in which twice a year every child gets chance to be on the stage.

We Specialize in:-

The school feels duly bound in helping its students to channelize their energy and mind in a creative and right direction. Hobby classes like Horse riding, air rifle shooting, instrumental music and fabric painting enhance the personality & talent of the students. Classes are divided into various clubs to carry out various activities. This encourages the interaction with the peer group and to bring out the finer aspects of a child’s personality. Children learn to shed all inhibitions, shyness and overcome stage fright.

Every year more than 100 students appear for International Assessment for Indian School (IAIS) and pass with excellent results for the last four years. Students get themselves enrolled for GESE. The school is registered ESOL Examination Centre, Trinity College, London. This examination is conducted in person by Trinity Examiner. The GESE is to get the skills in the language the world speaks. Students have shown excellent results by securing distinction and merit. A lot of students appear for various Olympiads. NCC XI PUNJAB BATTALLION with shooting range is one special facility provided to students for making them good citizens. Cricket training is offered to students by International player S. Harvinder Singh. Horse riding project is already in pipeline.

Holistic Growth: - (Inter School Competitions under Sahodaya Schools Complex)

The school organizes Inter school competitions to motivate the students. Inter School poetry Recitation Competition (II-V) based to inculcate moral values. Inter school poetry recitation and slogan writing competition was held to celebrate the World Environment Day.

Collage & solo singing:-

To inculcate Patriotic feelings school has arranged a patriotic solo singing and collage making competitions in which more than 20 teams from CBSE schools participated.

Celebrations:-

The school celebrates all the festivals and important days with full zeal and fervor like Mother’s day, Children’s Day, Teacher’s Day, mango day, Environment day, Earth Day and so on. Special participation is the regular feature in nagar kirtans and Sri Guru Harkrishan Ji’s Gurpurab.
