CBSE - Central Board of Secondary EducationAtomic Energy Central School-1, Hyderabad, ‘The Radiant Star' in the Eastern horizon of the city, lies in close vicinity of the two gigantic DAE Units, viz. ECIL & NFC. The school was setup under the aegis of the Atomic Energy Education Society (Regd.) Bombay, in response to the representation made by the then employees of the DAE Units, residing at Pattigadda in Hyderabad. Thus, AECS - Hyderabad, made its humble beginning on the FOURTH of NOVEMBER, 1970, in two residential blocks of the Scenic DAE colony, encircled by the kaleidoscopic landscape of the great historical MOULA-ALI hillocks amidst the then budding Industrial Units, monopolized by the parallel DAE Plants.
The first academic session of the school was a short one i.e. from Nov, 4th ,1970 to April, 1971. As is common to any newly opened institution, AECS-Hyderabad had also to go through tough times yet, sailed and steered through successfully with Mrs. B. Marina Rose at the helm and assisted by four stalwartly founder member teachers, namely, the first on the staff roll, Miss A. E. Maya Devi, followed by Miss Moinussa Begum, Miss S. French and Miss B. Sumana, guiding sixty-two students, enrolled in four classes which comprised of two sections UKG and one each of the classes First and Second. The school was upgraded to class Five the next academic year i.e. June, 1972 with four more added to the staff roll. The same year, the school was shifted to its present building, which stands to date, as one of the most magnificent, majestic, colossal monumental beauty, with its historical architectural semblance of the ancient Roman colosseum
In August, 1972, Shri R. SATYANARAYANA, took over charge as the Vice-Principal, and in 1973, he became the FIRST PRINCIPAL of the school. Under his able guidance, both the strength of the school students and that of the staff increased in leaps and bounds as such, the school was forced to work in two shifts. Later, when the strength further increased beyond limits the primary sections were shifted to a newly constructed building in the ‘D' sector of the colony, i.e. AECS-2 in the Year 1982. Another branch had to be opened in Dr. A.S. Rao Nagar to meet the demands of the residents of that colony which was merged with School-3 in the year 2000.
The ever growing strength of the school, forced the authorities to set up yet another branch of the institution, AECS-3, close to TIFR in the ECIL campus in the year 1985, making a total of four schools in Hyderabad. It flourished well and later shifted to its parent school, i.e. AECS-1 in the year 2003.
The school is affiliated to CBSE (AISSE), New Delhi. The First batch of the students of AECS-1 appeared for (10 + 1). XI CBSE in 1976, and the first batch of students under 10+2 pattern of CBSE-class 12th appeared for the public examinations in the year 1977. They brought great honour to the school by achieving cent result & also a cent in mathematics. This trend of achievement continued for many long years; basking in glory in the region. The school followed 10+2 PATTERN OF CBSE till the year 1983, after which, on demand from parents, it switched over to JUNIOR COLLEGE, with AP STATE INTERMEDIATE BOARD classes XI & XII from the 1984, while the secondary sections continued to have the CBSE syllabus.
It is indeed with great pride, we state about the crowning glory and the achievements the school has made over the past THIRTY FIVE YEARS. It remains a guiding light, igniting the young innovative minds, encouraging them to win laurels in every field, be it in academics, sports, co-curricular, NCC activities, inter-schools, inter-state or national competitions. The school has helped every individual child to develop an all round personality, moulded each, to bloom, glow and reach for the stars, fulfilling their own and their parents' dreams. It has the privilege of having produced many Scientists, Engineers, Doctors, Nurses, Teachers and other professionals at home and abroad.
The school will continue to serve the society by imparting both, qualitative and value-based education for life, train and discipline the pupils and make them GENTLEMEN, in the real sense of the word with the help of a posse of very DEDICATED, DEVOTED, DELIGENT set of well qualified and trained teachers, spreading its fragrance in the entire vicinity far and wide.
