Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School - Model Town

Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Model Town, Hoshiarpur was established in May, 1988 under the patronage of Chief Khalsa Diwan, Amritsar with the efforts of Late. S. Gurbax Singh ji Walia and Prof. Kartar Singh Ji and flourished under the dynamic and able guidance of its worthy fraternity members. It runs on Public School guidelines with English as medium of instruction. Special emphasis is laid on the Punjabi Language and Sikh philosophy. It has been affiliated to Punjabi School Education Board, Mohali (PB). Within a short period of 27 years, the school has progressed remarkably, academically under guidance of the management and the hard work of the staff. For imparting quality education well qualified, experienced and competent 49 teachers committed to the noble pursuit of education has been appointed which devotes its entire attention in fostering moral values, fine tests and mental faculties in the students. They are striving to nurture them into well- disciplined students. There are 4 non teaching staff members and 14 ward staff members to serve their services to the school.

There are 1200 students on the roll at the moment. The School has a double storey building. There is a well equipped Library, Science Lab and Computer Lab to cater to the needs of the students of senior classes.

The school has shown steady and phenomenal progress in imparting quality education to its students. The result of School has been 100% even when X std. class appeared for the first time in PSEB examination in 1993.  In the session 2014-15 our 52students of X class were appeared in board exam and 5 students got above 90%, 28 students got above 80%, 17 students got above 70% and 2 students got above 60 % and 1 student got 20th position at the Distt. Level.

Drawing Competition: In Punjab School Education Board drawing competition our students got first and second positions in fifth and eighth class level. HDFC Bank also organized a drawing competition in our school.

Co-curricular Activates:

In Punjab School Education Board competitions our school students achieved first position in 1st category of Shabad gyan, Geet gyan and third position in solo dance. In second category at district level our students got third position in Shabadgayan, first position in geetgayan and solo dance, second position in Poetry and speech. In third category our students got second position in geetgayan and third position in Shabadgayan.

Science Activities: In November 2014, Punjab School Education Board organized a science fair. Our students participated in this competition and got first, second and third positions in different categories at Block Level.

Gurmat Examination: In Gurmat Examination organized by Sikh Missionary Ludhiana, our school students got 72 prizes. These prizes include 5 merits, 17 students got ‘A’ grade, 20 students ‘B’ grade and 30 students ‘C’ grade. At zonal level in first, second and third category got first positions in speech and second in poetry. In January 2015, our 150 student’s started sehaj path. From Bharat Vikas Parishadorganized a Speech competition On the Shahidipurb of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur ji and our one student got first position.

Co-curricular Activates:

Our school students achieve first position in Shabad gyan and solo dance, and got 2nd position in poem at Distt. Level organizes by Punjab School Education Board Mohali. Students achieve first position in solo dance and bhangra organized by Punjab School Education Board in Khalsa Sr. Sec. School at Amritsar at Zonal Level. Students got first position in Geet Gyan, Shabad Gyan, Solo dance and bhangra and Gidha organized by Children Welfare society Hariana Hoshiarpur.

Science Competition: Our two teams also participated in National Children Science Congress competition and achieve 2nd position at Distt. Level.

Sports: Along with studies, religion and culture our school is also associated linked with sports.  We got third position in U-14 organized by Punjab School Education Board. Our two students were selected in Punjab state Inter Distt. (Mansa). Got first position At Distt. Level U-17 Cricket Tournament.  Five students participated in State Level (Patiala). U-19 girls got third position at Distt. Level. At Zonal Level students got first positions in 100 mtr. Race, 200 mtr, 4*100 relay race, short put and long jump.
