Graphic Era, is a Private University established in 1993 by Professor Kamal Ghanshala. It was one of his bold venture in providing service to the society through a private educational system, without looking for any form of assistance from other agencies. It was formerly known as ‘Graphic Era Institute of Technology’. It was declared as Deemed University U/S 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 vide Notification F.9-48/2007-U.3(A) dated August 14, 2008 and Approved by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India." However, as per India's Human Resources Development (HRD) Ministry’s January 2010 list, GEU appears to be de-recognized of its deemed status. GE offers academic and professional programs at Undergraduate and Post-graduate level in Engineering, Management, Computer Application and Hotel Management. 10% of the seats in each course are offered to NRI/PIO students. The university is spread over 30 acres of land. Graphic Era University students are required to adhere to the defined dress code while engaging in academic activities in the campus such as attending lectures or working in laboratories. However the students are allowed to wear the dresses other than uniform, two days in a week

Location - The University is nestled amidst the beautiful and serene surroundings of Rajaji National Park, Dehradun and offers an environment that fosters learning and stimulates creativity.

Facilities

MBA Entrepreneurship Programme - The University offers M.B.A. Entrepreneurship programme which aims to develop the entrepreneurship potential by providing requisite skills and knowledge to start a successful business enterprise. The course was offered to those students who had been admitted to M.B.A. - General in GE. Students who volunteered for this course will get their normal M.B.A. Degree and go in for a specialization in marketing, finance or HR as any other student of MBA - General. In addition to this they are required to take an additional paper on Entrepreneurship to be taught and assessed over four semesters. The marks awarded in this paper will not be counted for award of the MBA Degree. Those students who successfully complete the course on entrepreneurship will be awarded a certificate “Certificate Course on Entrepreneurship”. Thus these students will have an additional qualification as compared to their batch mates.

Classrooms – The University’s Classrooms and the Lecture Theatres’ are equipped with LCD Projectors, Networked Computers, Intelligent whiteboards and above all adept teachers make the classroom experience highly educational.

Hostels - Separate hostels are provided for girls and boys inside the campus. The hostels have the capacity to comfortably accommodate over 800 students. Various activities including yoga, meditation, sports, music etc. are provided. Other facilities include 24 hours electricity, water supply, first aid, doctors visit on call, laundry etc.

Library - Graphic Era central library has a number of technical books, periodicals, video films, magazines and other national & International publication. Digital library has been established through which students can access more than 1200 National / International journals and thousand of publications.

Computer Centre – The centre has 800 workstations all Pentium IV or Core 2 Duo, all of which have been networked. A fast and efficient switch based network with Gigabit/Sec speed of server forms an Intranet, connecting different buildings of the campus.

Internet - Graphic Era has placed a VSAT, facilitating uninterrupted connectivity at the constant speed of 2Mbps round the clock. Optical fiber back bone with structural cabling provides internet connectivity between and to all the computers with faculty, students, NPM/NMP, academic block, administration & faculty residences.

Laboratories - Graphic Era facilitate the training and teaching of student in various streams. The labs cater to the needs of the students studying in respective departments.

Workshop - The high roof workshop consists of shops in the field of fitting, carpentry, machine, smithy, forging, welding, Tin-smithy, foundry and Pattern making. Mechanical Machine Shop is equipped with Central Lathes, Shaping Machines, Drilling Machines, Electrical shops is fitted with both AC and DC motors, Generators and Alternators with instruments for Circuit and Systems labs.

Corporate Resource Cell - The University has a full-fledged Training and Placement Cell, which works towards the fulfilment of the student’s aspirations of a suitable job. The cell has been holding campuses, joint campuses and off campuses for the students. Companies like Infosys Technologies, Syntel India Ltd., I- Flex, L&T Infotech Ltd. Etc. have been it’s employers.

Industrial Visits - Industrial Visits provide first-hand experience of know-how of organizations operation. The interaction with industry experts, touring of factories and facilities helps students to relate the theories they have learnt along with practical.

Industrial Collaborations - Apart from the Industrial tours to the Prestigious BHEL, DRDO, FICCI Proceedings, Infosys, BSNLs, etc there are plethora of visitors from the prestigious TCS, NISG, British Oxygen Company, ONGC, BHEL, IBM lecturing in the Campus and catering to the curiosity of aspirants.

Sports – The University provides facilities for outdoor games like - volley ball, basket ball, lawn tennis and indoor games including table tennis, badminton, billiards, carom and chess etc.

Scholarships - Gyan Jyoti Scholarship As per this scheme, based on the academic performance in each of the semesters, a scholarship constituting prize money and a certificate of merit is bestowed upon the top three positions. Besides, a medal is awarded to the top three position holders of the program along with the degree at the time of convocation. Scholarships up to Rs. 60,000/- per student per year based on the merit of qualifying examination are provided.

Medical – A dispensary with a qualified doctor on call twenty four hours a day is available. Besides attending to the medical needs of the students, staff and others in the campus, the doctor also carries out routine medical check-up of the students every month.

Banking & ATM - 24 hours ATM facility has already been installed.

Transport – GE also provides transport facility.

Conference Halls - Four well equipped air conditioned conference halls, one each in separate blocks with adjustable lighting and the State-of-the- Art Audio-Video facility, muted air conditioning, LCD projectors and a seating capacity in a "U" shaped formation makes it an ideal centre where necessity blended with luxury co-exist.

Restaurant - The Hotel Management & Catering Technology Institute runs a tastefully designed multi cuisine restaurant inside the campus which serves Indian & Continental dishes.

Reprographic & STD Service - Students can make use of the photocopying facility available at the institute on payment. They may also make Local/STD/ISD calls from the booths located inside the campus on payment

Seminars and Conferences - Graphic Era organises various Seminars and Conferences for promoting excellence in management. Seminars are held at regular intervals so that the students understand one-on-one the working of the industry. Besides just that, they are groomed to act according to the industry norms.

Guest House - Guest house comprising of 12 AC and Non-AC rooms is available within the campus to the guardians on actual availability basis on nominal charges.

Achievements

The President and Architect of Graphic Era was bestowed with Uttarakhand Samman at the hands of the former Chief Minister, Uttarakhand, Shri N. D. Tiwari and the International Gold Star Millenium Award at Bangkok in January this year (2009).
