Eligibility

1.Candidate seeking admission must possess the following :

a) Have attained or shall attain the age of 17 years on 31st Dec. of the year of his/her admission to the Department/College/Institute.

b) Have passed 12th standard examination conforming to 10+2 system (Medical Stream) of the Punjab School Education Board or equivalent with 50% marks.

2.The admission will be based on merit list of Common Entrance test to be conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University for admission to all the affiliated

Colleges/Institutes/University department under its jurisdiction for the course or as decided by the University from time to time.

3.The candidate seeking admission to the course will have to be medically fit. He/she will furnish a medical certificate after he/she undergoes a medical and physical examination by the medical officer on the basis of which his/her admission shall be decided.

4.Every candidate shall pay the fees as prescribed by the authorities at the time of admission.

5.The students admitted to the course shall attend such lecture classes, practical classes and seminars/demonstration as prescribed in the syllabus and as decided by the Board of Control.

6.The students shall be considered to have completed the course if they have attended not less than 75% of the lectures delivered in each subject separately and 75% of the practical in each subject. Subject to general principles laid down in the regulations relating to condonation of lectures. 15% of the lectures may be condoned with permission of Board of Control.

7.The dates for examination will be fixed by the University as per the schedule approved.

8.The candidate shall be examined in such theory papers and practical examination as may be prescribed in the syllabus and scheme of examination approved by the academic Council.

9.The medium of instruction will be English. The candidates are required to answer questions in the examination in English only.

10.A candidate shall be declared to have passed the examination if he/she obtains not less than 50% marks in theory/practical papers separately.

11 A) A candidate who fails in one/two of the papers prescribed for annual examination, but has obtained not less than 50% marks separately in the remaining papers, shall be permitted to reappear in supplementary examination in the paper/papers in which he/she has failed and if he/she passes in that paper(s) he/she shall be declared to have passed the examination. If he/she fails or does not clear the said paper in the next annual examination then he/she shall have to reappear in all the papers. A maximum of four supplementary examinations will be allowed. If the candidate fails to qualify after the fourth re-appear attempt, the candidate will be struck off the rolls and he/she will have to seek fresh admission in the course.

B) A candidate who avails this concession will be eligible to join next year class provisionally, but if he/she fails to qualify in the paper(s) concerned along with the next year annual examination he/she will have to reappear in all the papers and shall stand reverted to the previous class.

12. All the examination shall be conducted by the Examiners to be appointed on the recommendation of Board of Studies. In each theory paper, there may be an external examiner as per University regulations modified from time to time. The awards received from the external examiner will be moderated by the Board of Moderation as provided in the University Calender.

The practical examination will be conducted by the Board of Examiners consisting of:-

a) External Examiner

b) Internal Examiner

13. All the successful candidates will be classified as under :-

a) All the candidates who obtain less than 60% marks (in aggregate of theory and practical examination Second Division taken together)

b) Those who obtain not less than 60% marks (in aggregate of theory and practical examination First Division taken together)

c) A candidate securing 75% marks or above, in aggregate of theory and practical examination taken together shall be declared to have obtained distinction in that paper (s).

14. Internship: After passing the 4th year examination a candidate will have to undergo internship for a period of 6 months. The period of six months of internship will be as per the schedule approved by the Board of Control.
