Palamuru University, Mahabubnagar is a State University established in the year 2008. It has been established by Act No. 29 of 2008 enacted by the Legislature of the State of Andhra Pradesh and published in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette on 24th September, 2008. Prior to this, the University was formally launched by the G.O.Ms. No. 89, Higher Education (U.E. II), Department dated 25th June 2008. This GO made history in the field of higher level of education in Andhra Pradesh as it paved the way for the establishment of 6 new Universities in 6 districts of Andhra Pradesh i.e. Mahbubnagar, Nalgonda, Hyderabad, Kurnool, Raichur and Gulbarga. Mahbubnagar was earlier known as Palamuru, from which the name of the University has been derived. The area of Palamuru or Mahabubnagar has diverse population belonging to different religion caste end creed. It is also one district which has highest Lambada population (ST). It is here that the importance of the University came into play which when established started providing path of development and excellence through education.
