Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies is established by Government of Kerala by the Kerala Legislative Assembly on 30 December 2010. KUFOS has its headquarters in the premises of the College of Fisheries, Panangad, near Kochi. The College of Fisheries, established in the year 1979, was a constituent college of the Kerala Agricultural University. KUFOS is the first University in India exclusively dedicated to studies in fisheries and allied disciplines. The University was formally inaugurated and dedicated to the nation in a function held at the campus of the College of Fisheries, Panangad, on 20 February 2011. The total land area is 69.10 acres.
Location - The location of this Fisheries University is at Panangad; which is 12 km. away from Kochi city, along the NH-47. Ernakulam South Railway Station is the nearest Railway Station, 12 km away from the campus.

Hostel Facilities - The University provides residential accommodation for boys / girls and staff which are available within the campus.
Library Facilities - The University provides good and well furnished library for needs of students and staff.
Sports Facilities - There are good infrastructure facilities for basket ball, volley ball, shuttle badminton and table tennis, foot ball, a six -track ground and a gymnasium are available in the campus.
Transport Facilities - The University provides bus service for staff from campus to Palarivattom junction.
Anti-ragging Cell - There are strict rules to deal with ragging cases in the University.
Guest House - There is a well-furnished guest house which is available at the campus.
