NIFT Entrance Exam 2025 Eligibility

Educational Qualification

For B.Design

  • Aspiring candidates should have passed the 10+2 level exam in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination OR
  • General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.

 

For B.F Tech (Apparel Production)

  • Aspiring candidates should have cleared +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Maths.

Note: Candidate must pass in Physics, Chemistry & Maths.

 

For Master of Fashion Management

  • Aspiring candidates should have passed a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities or a Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only.

 

For Master of Fashion Technology

  • Aspiring candidates should have passed B.E / B.Tech (Textiles/ Apparel/ Mechanical/ Industrial/ Production/ Electronics/ Computer/ Information Technology).

 

For Master of Design

  • Aspiring candidates should have cleared a graduation degree from a recognized University in any discipline OR 
  • They should have passed a Bachelor in Applied Arts (Fashion Design/ Visual Communication/ Graphic Design/ Industrial Design/ Interior Design/ Multimedia Design/ Product Design/ Textiles & Accessories) OR
  • Candidates should possess a B.A (Fine Arts) or B.Sc (Textiles & Clothing) or B.Arch or Design Diploma/ Degree from NIFT/NID only.

Note: Candidates having relevant industry experience in areas of Fashion/ Textile/ Communication Design would be preferred.

Age Limits

  • A candidate for this examination must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on the 1st January, of the year he is taking the exam.

NIFT Entrance Exam 2025 Pattern

  • NIFT Entrance Exam consists of objective type multiple choice of question
  • Each question carrying one mark for the correct answer
  • Each wrong answer carries a negative marking at the rate of 0.25.

Notes:

  • On the basis of the result of the written test GAT and CAT, B.Des candidates will be called for the second test called the Situation Test.
  • For B.F.Tech, GAT will be the final test for selection. The candidates for M.Des will take GAT and CAT. On the basis of the result of GAT and CAT, in the case of M.Des. and GAT in the case of M.F Tech and MFM, candidates will be called for Group Discussion/ Personal Interview.

Situation Test 

Shortlisted candidates for B.Des from the written entrance examination are required to undergo a Situation Test which is a hands-on test to evaluate the candidate’s skills for material handling and innovative ability in a given situation with a given set of materials.

Group Discussion

Shortlisted candidates for master’s programs from the written entrance examination are required to undergo Case Study based Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI).

GD would comprise approximately 15 to 20 minutes of discussion on a case study assigned, on which a panel of experts will assess the candidates on the following parameters:

  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to Generate New Ideas
