Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (HBCSE TIFR) Invites Applications for Ph.d Admission 2018

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into PhD program in Science Education 2018 session. 

Areas of Research

• Teaching and learning of science and mathematics from primary to undergraduate level.
• Innovative curricula, laboratories, teaching and assessment methods.
• Development of scientific and mathematical thinking in students at school and college level.
• Design and technology in the curriculum.
• Visual and spatial modes of learning.
• Socio-cultural and gender factors in learning.
• Structure and dynamics of knowledge. 

Important Dates

• Application Submission Deadline: 30^th Mar, 2018
• Date of Written Test: 13^th May, 2018, 10.00 am to 01.00 pm
• Date of Interview: 03rd week June 2018 

Eligibility Conditions

• M.Sc (in any subject), M.S.W., M.A. (in Congnitive Science, Psychology, Education) or B.Tech / B.E./MBBS or equivalent.
• Science and Mathematics Teachers and Educators are also encouraged to apply.
• They would have to spend a minimum of two years at HBCSE and can do their research work while stationed at their parent institutions.
• Exam Fee: Rs.400/- to be paid online or through Demand Draft (DD) (in favour of Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR and payable at Mumbai). 

Scholarship

• Students receive a monthly scholarship of Rs.16000/- (enhanced to Rs.18000/- after registration) and an annual contingency grant of Rs.20000/- Accommodation may be provided on campus at the nominal cost. In lieu of accommodation, HRA amounting to 30% of the fellowship will be paid.

• Admissions are made initially for one year, renewable annually up to a maximum of five years.

Test Centers

Candidates who qualify will be called for an interview. A written test for eligible applicants will be held at seven Centres around the country:
