Centre for Development Studies (CDS) Trivandrum MA in Applied Economics Admission 2018 Notification

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into M.A. Program in Applied Economics for the academic year 2018-19. The Program will commence on 26^th Jul, 2018. 

Total No. of Seats

• 20 seats are available for students from India and 05 seats are for students from SAARC countries. This prospectus provides details about the admission to the program. 

Note

• Admission is open to Indian nationals as well as students from SAARC countries. The degree is awarded by Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Selected MA students will join a vibrant research community at CDS, comprising faculty, research scholars and visitors, working on various facets of development with an interdisciplinary framework. Training in applied economics is expected to prepare students for careers in academia, govt. national and international development agencies, research institutions, the corporate sector and the media.

• Last Date for Receipt of Application Form: 11^th Apr, 2018
• Date of Entrance Test: 20^th May, 2018 (from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon)
• Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed over Skype or telephone between 04^th  – 10^th  May 2018
• Selected Applicants must join the Programme on 26^th Jul, 2018 

Eligibility Conditions

For Students from India 

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline under 10+2+3 pattern, with at least 50 percentage of marks. Applicants from SC, ST & Persons with Disability (PWD) (with ≥40% disability) are eligible irrespective of percentage of marks secured in the qualifying degree. 

• Those who are appearing for their final exam may also apply. Such Applicants, if selected, shall be allowed to join the program only if they have secured the minimum prescribed percentage of marks in their qualifying exam at the time of registration to the program. 

• They should also submit the final mark sheets of the qualifying exam at the time of registration to the program. 

For Students from SAARC Countries 

• Bachelor’s/undergraduate degree (three-year program) with English As the medium of instruction and the three-year undergraduate program must be equivalent to the undergraduate program of an Indian university. 

• All certificates provided by the Applicant must be Apostille certified before joining. 

Admission Procedure

Application Form & Admission Procedure are separate for students from Indian and those from 5-SAARC countries mentioned above. 

For students from India 

• Admission is based on an entrance test scheduled on Sunday, 20^th May, 2018 from 10.00 am to12.00 noon at Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, New Delhi, Pune & Thiruvananthapuram. 

• NoTA/DA will be provided for attending the Entrance Test. 

• Applicants are advised to make their own arrangements for travel and lodging to attend the Entrance Test. 

For students from SAARC Countries 

• The separate application form is available for students from SAARC countries, which can be downloaded from our website www.cds.edu. 

• Scanned copy of the filled up and signed application form should be sent to the email address: [email protected] as an attachment with “MA-SAARC” on the subject line before 11^th Apr, 2018. 

• Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed over Skype or telephone between 04^th  – 10^th  May 2018 

Application Form

• Application form can be downloaded from Centre for Development Studies Website www.cds.edu. 

• The application is to be submitted in the prescribed format along with copies of all mark sheets/certificates from +2 onwards. 

• Application fee of Rs.200/-, as a demand draft drawn in favor of the Centre for Development Studies, payable at Trivandrum. 

• Statutory reservation for Applicants from India belonging to SC, ST, OBC (NCL) & Persons with Disability(PWD) (≥ 40% disability) as per Govt. of India rules. Reservation is applicable to only 20 seats earmarked for students from India. 

• SC/ST/PH (with more than 40% disability) applicants are exempted from payment of the application fee.
