Centre for Development Studies (CDS) Trivandrum Integrated M.Phil Phd Admission 2018 Notification

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into the full-time residential program leading to Integrated M.Phil/Ph.D in Applied Economics for 2018 sessions. The M.Phil Course duration would be of 24 months. Students have to spend at least 18-months, including 12 months on coursework and 6 months on the dissertation. Beyond 24-months no further extension will be allowed.
Eligibility Conditions
- Master’s Degree in any subject. Those awaiting results of the qualifying exam may also apply. Such applicants, if selected, will be allowed to join the Program only if their previous institutions certify that they have completed all requirements for the award of the degree.
- The name of such applicant shall stand automatically removed from the rolls of the Centre & University if he/she fails in Master’s Program when his/her results are announced.
Admission Process
- Statutory reservations will apply for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) & Person with Disability (PWD) (≥ 40% disability) applicants.
- Foreign nationals and officials nominated by the Govt. of Kerala will be considered separately.
Selection Procedure
- Selection will be based on an entrance test and interview. The entrance test is scheduled on 20th May, 2018 Sunday, from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon at Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, New Delhi, Pune & Thiruvananthapuram.
- Applicants will be shortlisted for interview on the basis of the Entrance Test. The interview will be scheduled between 02nd Jul, 2018 and 13th Jul, 2018 at CDS, Thiruvananthapuram.
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending the Entrance Test.
- Students completing the M.Phil degree with a minimum FGPA of 6.0 (5.5 in case of students from SC/ST/PWD categories) will be admitted to the PhD Program without further screening.
Application Fee
- Tuition Fee: 120/- per semester
- JNU Registration/Enrolment Fee: 5115/- (1 time fee)
- All students will be provided Hostel Accommodation on a shared basis. There are hostels for men and women in the campus. CDS hostel rent is Rs.250/- per person per month which includes charges for electricity and water.
How to Apply
- Application form can be downloaded from Centre for Development Studies website www.cds.edu.
- Application Fee of Rs.300/- as a DD taken only from State Bank of India (SBI) or State Bank of Travancore (SBT) drawn in favour of the CDS, payable at Trivandrum.
- The Application Fee is Non-refundable, for SC/ST & PwD (with ≥ 40% disability) applicants are exempted from payment of the application fee.
