SPAB and SPAV invites applications for admission to Masters and PhD Programme - 2018

School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal (SPAB) and School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada (SPAV), autonomous institutes of National importance established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India jointly announce the Joint Admission Test to be conducted for the Masters and Doctoral Programme under various specializations of Architecture and Planning for the academic session 2018-19.

Postgraduate Programmes in Architecture (Full Time – Two Year) Offered by School of Planning and Architecture, Bhopal - SPAB

Master of Architecture (Conservation)

Postgraduate Programmes in Architecture (Full Time - Two Year) Offered by School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada (SPAV)

Master of Architecture (Landscape)
Master of Architecture (Sustainable Architecture)

Admission to be made through Joint Entrance Test (JET) to be conducted at SPAB and SPAV

PhD Programme

PhD programme is offered under various specializations of Architecture and Planning, namely, Urban Planning, Regional Planning, Conservation, Urban Design, Landscape, Environmental Planning, Industrial Design, Urban Governance, Housing and Real Estate, Vernacular Architecture, Urban Economics, Municipal Finance and Universal Design. An applicant must indicate his /her choice of department under which s/he wishes to carry out the research.
Candidates having valid GATE/JRF/CEED score, any other institutional scholarship/sponsorship including ICCR and self-financed Indian (OCI and PIO), foreign scholars:

Application Fee:

Application fee for doctoral and each postgraduate programmes is INR 3000 and INR 2000 for unreserved/OBC categories and INR 2000 and INR 1000 for SC/ST/PWD categories respectively to be paid online. Applicants shall pay the amount to SPAB’s account through SBI i-collect by selecting Madhya Pradesh as the State and SPA Bhopal as the Institute.

Eligibility Conditions

For all postgraduate programmes in Architecture: B.Arch / B. Plan with at least 60% (or 6.5 CGPA) for General/OBC and 55% (6.0 CGPA) in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates in the qualifying degree examination.
Format of Joint Entrance Test: JET shall have a written paper based on the basic understanding of the specialization applied for and a viva voce component.

Eligibility

For M.Plan (URP) and M.Plan (EP) / M.Plan (EPM):

B.Arch / B. Plan / B.E. (Civil) / B.Tech (Civil) / M.A. in Geography or Economics or Sociology with at least 60% (or 6.5 CGPA) for General / OBC and 55% (6.0 CGPA) in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates in the qualifying examination.

For M. Plan (TLP)/ M.Plan (TIP):

B.Arch /B. Plan / B.E. (Civil) / B. Tech (Civil) / Masters Degree in Economics or Statistics or Operations Research with atleast 60% (or 6.5 CGPA) for General /OBC and 55% (6.0 CGPA) in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates in the qualifying examination.
Format of Joint Entrance Test: JET shall have a written paper based on the basic understanding of the specialization applied for and a viva voce component.

Postgraduate Programmes in Design (Full Time - Two Year)

Master of Design (M.Des)

Eligibility

B. Arch /B.Plan./ B. Des. / B.E. / B. Tech / Graduate Diploma from NID or B.F.A. (with one year experience) with at least 60% (or 6.5 CGPA) for General /OBC and 55% (6.0 CGPA) in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates in the qualifying examination.

PhD Programme

Masters degree of a recognized institution or university in various specializations of Architecture and Planning or allied subjects with 60% marks (55% for reserved categories) or equivalent grade and
Professional/research experience for a minimum period of two years after obtaining the Master's degree.

Bachelors degree of a recognized institution or university in Architecture and Planning with 60% marks (55% for reserved categories) or equivalent grade and
Professional/research experience for a minimum period of five years after obtaining the Bachelor's degree.

Admission: Admission to all twenty seats in M. Des. shall be made through a design aptitude test and viva voce to be conducted at SPAB. An applicant shall carry his/her portfolio/dissertation report at the time of viva voce.

Candidates with valid GATE / JRF/CEED score shall be given due weightage in the admission procedure. In the event of any seat remaining vacant, SPAB and SPAV reserve the right to admit students from the waitlist in subsequent rounds.

How to Apply?

An applicant shall apply online and submit the hard copy of the filled-in application form along with the self-attested copy of marks sheets of 12^th standard and qualifying examination, valid GATE/JRF/CEED scorecard, Birth and Caste Certificate, Professional Certificate and Certificates for extracurricular and co-curricular activities. Applicants awaiting final result shall submit certificate towards `appearance in final examination’ and `percentage of marks scored till pre-final semester’ from their institute. Application with all documents shall have to be sent in an envelope super scribing ‘Application for Admission to (name of the programme)’ duly mentioning candidate’s name with full postal address and the Registration number generated online so as to reach the Assistant Registrar (Academics), SPA Bhopal, Neelbad Road, Bhauri, Bhopal, Pin Code - 462030 Madhya Pradesh, (India) through post/courier/in person on or before May 14, 2018. Applicant applying for more than one Programme shall send separate application and pay the requisite application fee thereof.
