Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Science and Engineering programs in following area for 2018 session.

Biological Sciences
Chemical Sciences
Physical Sciences
Mathematical and Information Sciences.

Eligibility Conditions

For PhD in Engineering Program

Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/ Pharmacy with a good academic record or with a Master’s degree in Sciences with a good academic record and with a valid GATE score or UGC/ CSIR-NET/NBHM or valid CSIR-JRF/ SRF or equivalent fellowship.

For PhD in Science Program

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology, Medicine or Master’s degree in Science with a keen sense of scientific enquiry for pursuing advanced research in frontier areas of Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical & Information Sciences leading to a PhD degree.

The applicant should be having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/ SRF of various funding agencies, e.g. CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST etc.), INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships.

Direct PhD in Engineering

B.E./B.Tech/GATE/NET (Engg) B.E./B.Tech+2-year experience as PA/ CSIR-SRF/ Industrial Applicants B.E/B.Tech or M.Sc + National level fellowship/ Ranked first in University Personnel from Industry for PhD Applicants having Master’s degree in Science/Engineering with endorsement from a Industry for financial support during studies.

Selection Procedure

Applicants will be selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam and interview conducted by the institute.

Applicants will be screened based on their preferences given.

Shortlisted applicants for the program will be intimated electronically and they will be required to appear for the interview for selection at the designated centers.

The applicants can exercise a maximum of three preferences for labs. Please visit AcSIR website (http://acsir.res.in) for online application form submission and additional details.

The applicants shortlisted for PhD Program shall be required to appear in the Aptitude Test/Selection Interviews at the concerned CSIR Labs. No TA/DA is admissible for interview.

No separate call letter for Aptitude Test/Selection Interview will be dispatched; the shortlisted applicants are advised to plan their travel arrangements as per the schedule of admission notified on the website.
