Delhi University issued the DU admission policy for the 2022-23 academic year on Tuesday, stating that eligibility will be determined by the results of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), as per UGC’s mandate for India’s 45 core central universities.
Till now cut-off marks in Class 12 board exams were used to determine admission to Delhi University.
According to the notification, Except for the School of Open Learning (SOL) and the National Collegiate Women's Education Board admission to all undergraduate programmes will be done through CUET.
So It is mandatory for all candidates to appear in CUET-2022, including those seeking admission to supernumerary seats.
DU ADMISSION IN MINORITY COLLEGES
According to the officials’ 85 per cent of the marks for admission will be collected from the CUET and the remaining 15% will be decided by the colleges in the 50 per cent seats allotted for minority colleges. Admission to the non-reserved 50% seats will be solely based on the CUET.
CLASS 12 VS CUET
Candidates would be permitted to take the CUET only in subjects that they studied in Class 12, and the merit will be calculated based on a combination of only those subjects in which the candidate has taken the CUET.
Gap year students will be able to apply for CUET as well and altering the stream will have no negative consequences for anyone.

SELECTING SUBJECTS
In order to get admitted to most of Delhi University's programmes, an applicant must select at least three subjects from the second section, which includes domain-specific subjects.
The second section is divided into two lists: B1 and B2. Candidates must choose their subjects carefully so that they do not select more than one subject at a time.
Eligibility for admission to most B.Sc programmes will be determined by physics, chemistry, mathematics, or biology.
In CUET, getting at least 30% in any one language is compulsory.
A candidate must take the entrance exam in any one language from section one and any three subjects from the other section to be admitted to the Bachelor of Arts programme. The candidate's merit will be determined by the marks earned in the same subject and language.
Candidates must take the CUET mathematics test in order to be considered for admission to BA (Hons) Economics. Merit will be determined based on marks earned in the chosen language, mathematics, and any two subjects.
A candidate can take the CUET in a maximum of six subjects, with one of them needing to be a language subject.

Candidates for the BBA, BMS and BBE degrees must appear in one language, mathematics, and section 3 of the CUET. Candidates for BA, BVSc, and BCom programmes (known as "pass" courses) can choose between a language and one domain-specific subject, as well as a general examination or a three-subject test.
Candidates can choose a specific language at CUET or take a test in any other language to be admitted to linguistic programmes.
"However, preference will be given to those appearing in the particular language,” Gandhi said.
