National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala Invites Applications for Admission into Ph.D Programs

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program in Engineering, Science and Humanities Departments in following various specializations for 2012-13. 

• Civil Engineering
• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical Engineering
• Electronics & Communication Engineering
• Production Engineering.
• Hydroinformatics Engineering
• Chemical Engineering
• Mathematics
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Humanities & Social Sciences 

Eligibility Conditions

For Engineering Departments

• Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent (60% of marks).
  
  
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology with an excellent academic record and with a CGPA of at least 9.0 out of 10 or equivalent (85% of marks).

For Science Department

• Candidates for admission to Ph.D program in Science Departments must have a master’s degree in the relevant discipline (Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics) with a first class or a minimum of 55% of marks in the subject or equivalent.

For Humanities & Social Science Department

• Candidates for admission to the Ph.D program in Humanities and Social Science must have a master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent.
  
  
• Candidates having MBA degree are also eligible for perusing Ph.D program under Humanities and Social Science with a minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent (60% marks). 

How to Apply

• Application form may be downloaded from the institute website www.nitagartala.in from 23^rd May, 2012. The envelope containing the duly filled in application form along with a demand draft of Rs.500 (Five hundred) for OP/OBC candidates and that of Rs.300 for SC/ST candidates to be drawn in favor of Registrar, NIT Agartala, Payable at SBI, NIT, Agartala branch (Code – 11491) should be superscribed  Application for M.Sc Program, 2012-13 in ……… Department and must reach the office of the Dean, Academic, NIT Agartala, Agartala-799055 latest by 29^th  Jun, 2012.
  
  
• All supporting documents as per application forms should also be enclosed with the filled in application forms.
  
  
• No application will be entertained without demand draft. 

Selection Procedure

• Selection is made on the basis of performance of the candidates in the test/interview and availability of seats. 

Important Dates

• Last date of submission of application:  29^th Jun, 2012 (Friday)
• Date of interview/written test:  10^th Jul, 2012 (Tuesday) 10.30 am.
