Higher education minister R V Deshpande on Monday said the admission process for engineering, medicine and dental courses would be completed before July 31, as per the Supreme Court's direction. Admissions for the engineering stream would be completed before July 27.
The government is signing an agreement with private colleges on seat-sharing in the next couple of days. "The fee structure remains the same as last year," he added.
In 2012, 20,000 seats fell vacant. The government wants to give sufficient time for parents and students to select courses and colleges of their choice through online counselling, the minister said.
On lack of infrastructure in private and government engineering colleges, Deshpande said affiliation is given by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) after inspection of colleges, and the state government has absolutely no role in it.
