Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras Invites Applications for Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE) 2014

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for conducting Humanities and Social Sciences Entrance Examination (HSEE) 2014 that leads to admissions for five-year integrated MA Programme in two streams: Development Studies and English Studies.

Eligibility Conditions

  • The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central / State Board.

  • Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board / University.

  • Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.

  • General Certificate Education Examination at the Advanced level.

  • High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University.

  • Any Public School / Board / University Examination in India or in any foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.

  • Higher Secondary Course Vocational Examination.

  • Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

  • The candidates belonging to the general category and OBC must secure a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination. The minimum of 55% in aggregate is for the SC/ST/PD categories.

  • A candidate, whose date of birth falls on or after 1st Oct, 1989, is eligible for HSEE-2014. However, in the case of SC/ST/PD candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years.

How to apply

  • The candidate can apply online which starts from 18th Dec, 2013 in HSEE website.

Application fees

  • The examination fee for SC/ST/PD (male) candidates is Rs.800, for GE/OBC (male) candidates is Rs.1600 and for female candidates (All categories) is Rs.800.

  • Last date for submission of application form: 17th Jan, 2014
  • HSEE-2014 online examination: 20th Apr, 2014
