Applications are invited for Ph.D. programme in Geomagnetism and allied fields.
Selected candidates will be required to do research work at Mumbai or regional centers of the institute i.e. EGRL, Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu) and KSKGRL, Allahabad (Uttar Pradesh). Indian Institute of Geomagnetism is a recognized centre for conducting research leading to Ph.D. degree by following universities in the subjects specified:
Eligibility Condition
M.Sc. / M.Sc. (Tech) in Physics / Applied Physics / Geophysics / Applied Geology / Environmental Science with a minimum of 60 % marks throughout and Physics or Chemistry or Mathematics as a subject in B.Sc.
Besides this the aspiring candidates should be in possession of valid certificate of qualifying NET / GATE / PET (in Physics from University of Mumbai / in Physics from Shivaji Univ., Kolhapur / in Physics or Applied Geology or Environmental Science from North Maharashtra Univ., Jalgaon / in Geophysics or Environmental Science from SRTM Univ., Nanded / in Geophysics from Andhra University, Visakhapatanam).
Important: - Those appearing for Master’s degree examination in the year 2011 may also apply.
Maximum Age: 25 years as on 01st June, 2011

Selection Criteria
Candidates who are in possession of the GATE / NET (for JRF only) certificate valid up to January 2012 in subject code -2 (Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Science) or subject code -5 ( Physical Science) / PET certificate from University of Mumbai in Physics / Shivaji University, Kolhapur in Phyiscs / North Maharashtra University Jalgaon in Physics, Applied Geology, Environmental Science / SRTM Univeristy, Nanded in Geophysics, Environmental Science / Andhra University, Visakhapatnam in Geophysics will be called for the interview.
