University of Calcutta (CU), Kolkata Invites Applications for Admission into Ph.D Programs 2014

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission into following programme at their respective departments for 2014.

• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in English
• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Hindi
• Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Biochemistry

Eligibility Conditions

For Ph. D in Biochemistry Program

• Candidates with post graduate degree in Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences and Physical Sciences are eligible to apply.

How to Apply

• For applying to Ph.D in Biochemistry program candidates can download the application form from: http://caluniv.ac.in/admission/Form_phd_biochem.pdf
  
  
• Candidates should apply in the format available in Calcutta University website to the head of the department, after paying Rs.100/- to the university cash counter through a challan available from the university cash counter at the Calcutta University, college street campus for Ph.D in Hindi and English programs.

Selection Procedure

For Ph.D in Hindi Program

• Candidate will have to appear for a written examination to be held in the Department of Hindi. Successful candidates will have to appear for a viva-voce / counseling.
  
  
• Candidates who have already passed UGC-CSIR (JRF) NET/ SET/ SLET/ teacher fellowship or equivalent examination or passed M.Phil or equivalent examinations need not appear for written test. They can directly appear for the viva-voce /counseling.

For Ph.D in English and Biochemistry Programs

• Candidates will be selected on the basis of their performance in the written exam conducted by the university followed by an interview.

Last date of submission of applications:

• For Ph.D in Hindi program: 10^th Dec, 2014.
• For Ph.D in Biochemistry program: 12^th Dec, 2014.
• For Ph.D in English program: 22^nd Dec, 2014.

Date of written exam:

• For Ph.D in Biochemistry program: 15^th Dec, 2014.
• For Ph.D in Hindi program: 7^th Jan, 2015.
• For Ph.D in English program: 15^th Jan, 2015.
• Date of interview for Ph.D in Biochemistry program: 15^th Dec, 2014.
• Tentative date for viva-voce for Ph.D in Hindi program: 25^th Jan, 2015.
