B.Sc Aeronautical Science or Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science is an Under-Graduate Aeronautical Engineering course. Aeronautical science is the collective name for the various sciences involved in the creation and operation of aircraft. The word “aeronautical” itself means “to navigate the air.” Aeronautical science is descended from nautical science, the science of seagoing vessels, and can be distinguished from astronautical science, which is concerned with spacecraft. With rare exceptions, aeronautical vehicles are designed only for travel in the Earth’s atmosphere.

The curriculum Bachelor of Science program in Aeronautical Science provides skills in mathematics, physics, communications, business, and aeronautics, including FAA certification as a multi-engine instrument-rated commercial pilot. The duration of the Bachelor of Science course in Aeronautical Science is three years and it is career orienting.

B.Sc Aeronautical Science Eligibility

  • Aspiring students should have passed the 12th class exam or its equivalent, with a minimum of 60% or equivalent CGPA.
  • Some of the very reputed universities and institutes conduct an entrance examination for admission.

B.Sc Aeronautical Science Colleges

B.Sc Aeronautical Science Suitability

  • The program is suitable to produce graduates who are prepared for careers in industry as research and development engineers, as well as practicing engineers.
  • They should have an eye for detail and be good at problem-solving. They need mathematical precision and design skills, computer skills, and the ability to communicate well.
  • They also need good planning ability and a knack for working under pressure. An aeronautical engineer needs to be physically fit a may need to often work at great speed, especially in checking and maintenance of aircraft during turnarounds.
  • They must have normal color vision.

How is the B.Sc Aeronautical Science Course Beneficial?

  • The course is beneficial for those who want to keep their career options open and who want a greater understanding of the aviation industry than flight or maintenance training alone.
  • This course offers possibilities of employment in varied sectors of activity related to aviation, automobile, armaments energy, and aerodynamics industries in general. The Defence Services and Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) also happen to be two major employers for the students.
