B.Tech. Leather Technology or Bachelor of Technology in Leather Technology is an undergraduate Leather Technology course. Leather technology is a branch of engineering which deals with synthesis, production and refining of leather so that it can be put into efficient use. It also deals with the synthesis of artificial leather and its efficient use to make commercial goods. It is comparatively a new branch which is gaining much importance in industrial sector. The leather and footwear industry are an area that has received a wide attention in recent years. The work in the leather industry is three tiered-design, manufacture and marketing, designing involves creating the new pattern in tune with the current trends in the fashion computer aided designing (CAD) is technique newly introduced in this field. Manufacture involves the mass production of design approved by the designing team. Marketing ensures the ready market for these products. B.Tech. (Leather Technology) is four years duration course and opens many job scopes for the candidates in the very area.
