Diploma in Printing Technology is a three-year Diploma level Printing Technology program. Printing is challenging as a course as it is multi-disciplinary in nature, encompassing the study of science, mathematics, mechanical, electrical, electronics, and chemical engineering with computer science and management subjects. Printing Technology includes printing on any substrates such as paper, tin & aluminium, plastic, glass and fabric. In the presence of computer technology and electronics: machines, methods and processes have changed drastically. Printing Technology has put emphasis on the combination of managerial, administrative and technological aspects of modern printing. These include printing in the field of advertising, publishing, packaging, distributing, marketing and developing technologies. Students will learn the difference between digital and offset presses as well as concepts in register board presses and direct feed presses. Specific areas of study may include types of paper stock, press set-up and plate types. This course may also cover processes for colour printing such as 1-color or 4-color process jobs.
