MS Bioinformatics or Master of Science in Bioinformatics is a postgraduate Bioinformatics course. Bioinformatics is the application of statistics and computer science to the field of molecular biology. The Bioinformatics program provides competence in computational biology/bioinformatics by providing training in the areas of molecular biology, information technology, statistics, and bioinformatics.

The Bioinformatics programme provides hands-on experience in the core fields of genomics, proteomics, protein engineering, metabolic pathway engineering, Pharmacogenomics, the discovery of new drugs and vaccines, molecular diagnostic kits, and Agro-biotechnology. The Master of Science degree programme in Bioinformatics lasts two years and is divided into four semesters.

MS Bioinformatics Course Suitability

  • The Master's degree programme is appropriate for graduates from a variety of computer science and information technology backgrounds, as well as industry workers, entrepreneurs, and scientific individuals active in teaching and research.
  • Those who wish to become teachers/lecturers in schools and colleges must pass the UGC-NET exam. Those who want to become college lecturers must pass the UGC-NET exam.
  • They should have computer skills that will assist biologists in developing an organised approach to biological data, as well as the tools necessary to analyse the data.

How is the MS Bioinformatics Course Beneficial?

  • The Master of Science in Bioinformatics programme prepares graduates to conceptualise, create, and implement well-designed software and databases for biologists.
  • The Bioinformatics programme will train students in the fields of biotechnology and information technology.
  • They can pursue future research study programmes since it provides a solid foundation.
  • After that, they can work in schools and colleges; to teach permanently at colleges/universities, they must pass the UGC-NET test.
