M.Sc Bioinformatics or Master of Science in Bioinformatics is a Post-Graduate Bioinformatics course. The application of statistics and computer science to the subject of molecular biology is known as bioinformatics. The Master of Science in Bioinformatics program prepares students for careers in computational biology/bioinformatics by providing instruction in molecular biology, information technology, statistics, and bioinformatics.

The Master of Science in Bioinformatics program provides hands-on experience in the essential multidisciplinary fields of genomics, proteomics, protein engineering, metabolic pathway engineering, Pharmacogenomics, the discovery of new drugs and vaccines, molecular diagnostic kits, and Agro-Biotechnology. The Bioinformatics course takes two years to complete and is divided into four semesters.

M.Sc Bioinformatics Eligibility

  • The candidates must have qualified for their Graduation degrees such as a B.Sc (Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Zoology / Botany / Chemistry / Mathematics / Statistics / Computer Science) / B.Pharm / MBBS / BDS / BAMS / BHMS / B.E (Computer Science / Information technology / Biomedical Engineering) degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized University.
  • A student should have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent at their Graduation level.
  • Students will be admitted to the M.Sc in Bioinformatics course through Central Entrance Test.

M.Sc Bioinformatics Colleges

M.Sc Bioinformatics Course Suitability

  • The Master's degree program in Bioinformatics is appropriate for graduates from a variety of computer science and information technology backgrounds, as well as industry employees, entrepreneurs, and scientific individuals active in teaching and research.
  • Those who wish to become teachers/lecturers in schools and colleges must pass the UGC-NET exam. Those who want to become college lecturers must pass the UGC-NET exam.
  • They should have computer skills that will assist biologists in developing an organized approach to biological data, as well as the tools necessary to evaluate the data.

How is the M.Sc Bioinformatics Course Beneficial?

  • The Master of Science in Bioinformatics program will provide graduates with the necessary abilities to envision, create, and construct well-designed software and databases for biologists.
  • The Bioinformatics Program will train professionals in biotechnology and information technology.
  • They can pursue subsequent research study programs since it provides a solid foundation.
  • After that, they can work in schools and colleges; to teach permanently at colleges/universities, they must pass the UGC-NET test.
