About Awadhesh Pratap Singh University

Awadhesh Pratap Singh University is a teaching-cum-affiliating University. It was established on the 20th July. The University has been named after Captain Awadhesh Pratap Singh, a distinguished son of the soil and a freedom fighter. It got UGC recognition in February 1972  and acquired membership of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and All Commonwealth Association of Universities (ACAU) in due course of time. It has jurisdiction over 65 colleges situated in the districts of Rewa, Sidhi, Shahdol, Umariya and Satna, besides 21 Sanskrit Colleges and 85 Sanskrit Schools spread all over Madhya Pradesh. The University is situated on the foot of Vindhya's, spread over 246.20 acres of land.

Location - The University is located in the north of Rewa City, at a distance of about 5 kms., with its campus lying on either side of Rewa-Sirmour Road.

Transportation

• Rewa city can be approached from Satna or Attahalad. lt is 52 Kms from Satna lying on the Howrah - Bombay Route (Centrat Raitway) and is 127 Kms from Attahabad.
• There are regular private and government bus services from both the places. It takes nearly 1 hour to reach from Satna and 3 and a half hours from Allahabad. Some luxury and long distance buses take even less time to reach.
• Rewa is well connected by train through Satna, Bhopal, New Delhi, Bilaspur and Jabalpur via Satna/Katni/Itarasi.   
• Autos and tempos are available in plenty from Railway station/bus stand/ Sirmour Chauraha for the University.

Self Supporting Programmes - The University provides a number of Self Supporting Programmes for the welfare of the students. Some of these are - M.A.in Russian Language (5 Years integrated course), M.B.A.( Tourism Administration) etc.

Central Library - The Central Library follows Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. It has a collection of around 75000 books and can accommodate 100 students at a time. Total number of books, department wise is 2000. Number of short research papers is 4507 and number of Research papers and Thesis for Ph.D. is 2508.

Award & Scholarships - The University provides awards & scholarships to meritorious students.

Bus Facility - The university bus facilitates an easy approach to the University for its employees and students by running from Sirmou Chauraha, which is the centre point for boarding the vehicle for the university.

Distance Education Centre - The centre provides various graduate and diploma courses. Some of these are - Bachelor of Library and Information Science (1 year), Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication (1 year) etc. Under the academic activities the students are provided study material, writing of response sheet & home assignments. Personal Contact Programmes are also arranged.
